"Oscar called me within 5 minutes from the time I entered my info at Home Advisors website. He met with us that afternoon and gave us a detailed proposal along with an education about septic systems and the annual maintenance which should have been performed to keep the tanks maintained. Not knowing what type of septic tanks we had, Oscar drove to the county, pulled up our records and called us with the information. We have dealt with another septic company for many years and feel grateful that we were referred to Oscar. He and his work crew were always on time and did an exceptional clean up job afterwards. We needed a couple of things redone, Oscar was at our house the next morning and had one of his guys follow up with the remaining work immediately. If you need septic work done - look no further, contact Oscar. Don't waste your time getting estimates from several different contractors, Oscars bids were lower than anyone else's."

"The backyard of our house was flooded, which ended up being our old water heater flooding out the bottom.  Bob and Marc Plumbing came out right away, assessed what was going on and accurately estimated the work that needed to be done.  Best thing about it was they came the next day and got the work done.  It was done quickly and professionally.

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

Septic drain lines (or leach lines) are typically buried between 18 and 36 inches underground, and should be at least 6 inches below the surface. These pipes are perforated and surrounded by filtering materials like sand or gravel. Burying the lines at this depth helps minimize odors and allows bacteria and other biological processes in the soil to effectively treat the wastewater. Burying lines too close to the surface can cause issues unless the soil is very compact and stable.

How deep your septic system needs to be into the ground depends on several factors. In extremely cold environments, the tank needs to rest below the maximum frost line, which can be up to six or eight feet deep. The standard burying depth for most systems is between a few inches and four feet below ground level. Depth can also depend on the slope of the landscaping and other property variables.

Your drain field or leach field should be 1 to 3 feet under the ground. It will be a little shallower than the septic tank, although it can be the same depth or slightly deeper. The proper depth of the septic tank is up to 4 feet. It’s possible that your local regulatory agency requires a certain depth for your drain field.

Septic tank odors can happen because of a few different issues with your septic system, such as a full tank, clogged drains, or blocked venting systems. Not only is a smelly septic tank pretty unpleasant, but it can also pose a potential hazard to yourself and your home. Toxic fumes could be hanging around, or untreated wastewater could be harming the environment.

Costs depend on tank accessibility, size, and local rates. Regular service serves as preventive care, averting costly emergency repairs or system replacements.
