Customers say: Quality work

"Excellent Architect We hired SSA, Inc. for the exterior and interior remodel of our Autobody shop building. It is a challenging project since the building was never upgraded to be current code compliant. There are existing items to be legalized as well. Sharmila, Owner/Principal Architect is very knowledgable, experienced and familiar with city process, current building and fire codes. She is very personable, creative and suggested solutions and design that are both effecient for our setup as well as acceptable by the City. She and her competent, effecient team of engineers delivered design plans, renderings, drawing sets in a fast paced timeline so we do not have lags in our operations. SSA, Inc and team have expereince working with the building departments in all cities in the bay area. They communicate promptly and effectively with plan checkers and building officials. She is a fantastic architect who always works for the best outcome for her client. We are very thankful to have hired her and highly recommend her companys services for your remodel, addition or new construction project."

Small jobs welcome

Offers commercial services

"Shilpa did an amazing job designing an addition to a home we bought. It included remodeling an extra framed garage into a master bedroom suite, laundry room and powder room plus adding to its size . The project also included doubling a great room to blend into the house with the new suite as well as opening up the kitchen to this great room and raising the ceiling . The design blends really well and will provide a nice open plan for living and entertaining I was impressed with how well Shilpa understood what we wanted and executed the plans in the time frame promised if not earlier. She also pushed it thru the planning dept. with minimal need for changes. The project is on going and is moving along well Shilpa is always available to answer questions as things progress. The contractor feels she is easy to work with as well. I really enjoyed working with Shilpa and easy her demeanor ."

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

In Concord, the longevity of structural engineering projects depends on earthquake-resistant design, thorough soil analysis, and materials chosen for the local Mediterranean climate. Success also relies on adherence to California Building Code and ensuring robust seismic connections. Working with professionals who understand Concord’s unique soil and retrofit needs for older homes is crucial for lasting results and ongoing safety.

Helpful?

For homes in Concord, gather details such as the year built, foundation type, and any previous structural modifications. Information about soil conditions, property slope, and proximity to local fault lines is essential. Having original building plans, engineering reports, and permit records helps guide decisions. Knowing your home’s seismic retrofit history and whether it’s in a flood or fire zone ensures your project meets Concord’s specific safety needs.

Helpful?

In Concord, address urgent issues like visible structural failure, significant foundation settlement, or earthquake damage right away to ensure safety. Seismic retrofitting for older homes and foundation repairs should be scheduled within a few months. Preventive upgrades or cosmetic changes can typically wait one to two years. Always factor in Concord’s rainy season and local contractor schedules when planning your project timeline.

Helpful?

In Concord, homeowners often prioritize seismic retrofitting and foundation reinforcement, especially for older properties. Open-concept layouts requiring removal of load-bearing walls are also in demand. Recently, there’s growing interest in structural steel moment frames for home additions, ADU structural design, and roof strengthening for solar panel installations. Sustainable materials and multi-level deck systems are increasingly popular, reflecting Concord’s emphasis on safety, resilience, and modern living.

Helpful?

Schedule a structural engineering assessment in Concord if you see foundation cracks wider than 1/4 inch, doors or windows that stick, or floors that noticeably slope. After an earthquake or heavy rainfall, inspect for new wall cracks or shifting. Homes built before 1980, or those with hillside or unreinforced masonry foundations, should be evaluated regularly. Plan ahead if you’re considering major renovations or installing solar panels.
