"I hired Green Land after meeting with almost a dozen landscape contractors. Jay met with us and went over our plans. Unprompted, he also showed us 4-5 different recent jobs that he had completed. Each of the owners greeted us and encouraged us to look no further. We are happy we ended up choosing Green Land. Theyve done a lot of houses in the La Costa area of Carlsbad and some in Del Mar. Really high end work. PROS: Workmanship. Attention to detail. Our pool was built in 2016 and we have had ZERO issues. Overall design was amazing. It made a huge difference to the front and back of our property. Green landscaping (our water bill dropped about $50/month despite adding more plants). Did I mention the workmanship? Second to none and still more cost effective than 90% of the bids we got. We cant wait to save up to buy another home to get to do the landscaping again. CONS: None! Ive recommended them to a few of our neighbors. From the looks of the signs in the neighborhood, it looks like they took our advice, too."

"TLDR: Kent is a talented artist who has mastered i. the fine line in landscaping between aesthetics and practical use and ii. the rare and valuable business skill of being customer-centric. We had a big job with his team and we were so happy with the end result and the relationship we built along the way that I promised Kent a review that came from the heart - it's a bit long but here it goes. My first impression of Kent was of an artist and a very-talented one at that - bringing vision and experience to the table. My family had just bought a new house in the perfect canyon lot we always wanted, but the house needed some TLC. We wanted to transform our front and backyard into something that corresponded to our dream backyard for the next 10-20 years for our kids to grow up and enjoy in. Although we had some idea of what we wanted, we were certainly not landscaping experts and several of our ideas were quite rough around the edges. We needed someone who was flexible to our vision but could help us connect the dots on how to get there taking into account practical application and aesthetics. Kent did just that. His first time over he spent time aligning with us on our vision and he professionally called out some of the flaws in our thinking. We recognized a lot of what he said made sense and started to mold our vision around some of those insights. To solidify the idea, he brought out his sketch book and literally drew his vision for our backyard in two sketches (sounds corny, but frankly - it showed his artistry excellence and care for the customer). Once that was done and we aligned on the game plan - Kent and his team started immediately within the next 2-3 days. It was quite a thing to watch his team of 10-20 employees at any given day tear ad rebuild my backyard within 2-3 weeks. At a high-level, Kent's scope of work was as follows: - demo'd old concrete/pavers and re-poured new colored concrete - demo'd old patio cover and installed a giant alumawood patio cover - moved a ton of dirt around with an excavator to re-level the area behind our backyard - re-did drainage to stop water from pooling/staining concrete (as it was before) - removed several trees and ground the stumps (some over 70 ft tall!) - installed new queen and multi-trunked king palms - installed planters with low-maintenance plants (succulents, ice plants, etc) and new stations for the automated drip system - Built our barrel sauna for us and ran new 220V electrical line - installed a section of artificial sod that looked gorgeous As you can imagine from the size of the project, there were some snags that happened along the way: an accidental broken window, a structural issue with the patio cover, concrete discoloration due to the wildly rainy season we had in March-April, among some other minor items. However, what impressed me the most is how if you give Kent and team the chance to fix it, they WILL fix it. Although discussions on such snags and remedying it are never usually straight-forward, in the end what really mattered to me is that Kent showed the ownership to set us - as his customers up for success - owned up to those snags being his responsibility and remedied it with professionalism and always remaining customer-centric. I appreciate Kent and his son - Kacen - very much and very much plan to work with them on future projects in the near future."

"I am very impressed, and pleased, with the job that Quetzal Landscapes did for me! My yard is beautiful! Kristian (the owner) was very professional throughout the whole job. He was here every day (for about an hour) to get his crew going with the projects of the day, and to look at the work that had been done the day before. The concept that was taking place was so beautiful that I kept adding many more projects to my original landscaping "vision." Kristian removed (he actually got right in there, himself, with a chain saw) 3 very large Birds of Paradise trees (roots and all) and artistically landscaped my 4 terraced levels with exactly what we talked about. Kris has a very creative eye. Beyond the planting, Kris envisioned, and put in, a small patio on the 3rd terraced level with redwood stairs going up to it.I can now see the mountains and the fireworks from my yard. The crew that was there every day (7 days a week until my job was finished) was extremely hard working, and fun to be around. Kristian worked with me on my tight budget and was very thoughtful in presenting his ideas of my landscaping. After my landscaping was completed, my drip system needed to be monitored and changed each week. Kris came out himself (from about an hour away), twice, on a Saturday, to change it for me. Any follow-up that was needed, Kristian was there immediately to handle it! It is too bad that this review has no place for a before and after picture. Quetzal Landscapes did a beautiful, beautiful job...... Way beyond my expectations! Bravo Kristian, and your wonderful crew."

"We hired Install It Direct and Ronald Dombroski for our backyard remodel in 2012. His collaborative approach to Design, Function, and Budget was stress-free and a fun process. All we had in our backyard was a small concrete pad provided by the builder. Our goal was to increase our patio space. What we ended up with was an amazing yard that guided us to unused spaces. In one corner a sitting area, in the other a beautiful gas fire pit and seating area. The two spaces were tied together with a sitting wall and a water feature. Your Designer/Estimator is with you from the initial meeting to the completed project. It is very comforting having your Designer as your Project Manager. The installation team was very skilled and professional. They communicated with us daily and took pride in their work. We have since moved from our home and our new home already had a completed front and backyard. Our new home looked amazing during the day but nighttime was a different story. We really could not use our backyard because it was too dark. The home had lights at the front door, back, garage, and several wall lights around the pool. The front and back were dark and uninviting. We remembered Ron had a passion for lighting so we called him out for a visit. Their approach to lighting is to create a portrait with your yard. The lighting highlights the features of your home while making the space warm and inviting. The fixtures they installed are performing great. In 2012 LED lighting was not cost-effective. Today we have great LED lights that are very efficient and budget-friendly. Some unique features we now have are hanging lights from our wooden pergola and lights placed in our rain gutters to highlight our dormers and cast shadows on our roof shingles.
