Dean removed pavers in my patio to cut out tree roots and replaced them, added more sand to the entire patio so all pavers would look nice. His workmanship was excellent, he was on time, conscientious, fair priced, and the best worker I have ever used for any project. He deserves a 10 star rating!

Dean is awesome. He came out promptly, assessed the repair work, and got to work immediately. He understood what was important on the repair, provided a reasonable quote, and knew exactly what to do. I will definitely use him on my next projects. Thanks Dean!

Dean Hawthorne quoted me 2 days ago (9/19/23); I checked other contractors and hired him. He arrive promptly(9/21), conducted himself professionally and his workmanship was top notch. The project changed as he opened up the brick facade. Dean made a suggestion I agreed to and the project really came out well. His “opinion” was valuable. If I’d insisted otherwise it’s likely have been a disaster. I highly recommend him based on his workmanship and quality of professional that he is.

Dean is a true professional. We had him reverse our fireplace (Not a typical or easy project) He did an outstanding job!

Hawthorne Masonry poured a 625 square foot patio and widened our driveway. Dean was the low cost bidder, despite adding additional features that other contractors did not even mention. He got very involved in knowing our objectives and delivered a finished product that exactly accomplished what we needed and everything was executed around our schedule. I am happy to serve as a future reference for him.

Dean, the owner, of Hawthorne Masonry is 100% the guy to hire for any concrete work needed. I called him to bid a 28' x 8' high retaining wall to be built 2' out from an existing bowed and cracked wall. Within the first 10 minutes of our meeting I knew I was going to hire him. He's awesome, very knowledgeable, creative thinker, HARD working, on time, respectable, clean and THE guy to hire. My experience with him and the big wall project promoted me to have him continue with lots more flat work at my back patio, new front 'floating' platform steps to my front door and apartment & another 6' x 12' retaining wall and slab under my house for storage of holiday and seasonal items not needed regularly. In all.... it was a huge amount of work that he put off other potential clients and stayed on my job until it was finished. He was here first thing EVERY morning, on time and ready to work his ass off! I'll be doing a lot more work with Dean in the near future as well. He is and always will be my 'go to guy' for ANY concrete work ever needed in the future here at my home or investment properties...and future projects!

I originally hired Dean to install a retaining wall but I loved the job that he did -so much- I hired him to also install Travertine pavers on my rear patio, front porch and the entrance walkway to my home. He also installed a Concrete walkway from the front porch to rear the patio. It turned out Beautifully! Dean is the guy that you will want to hire for Any of your stone or concrete jobs!

Dean installed (2) 3 1/2ft. Retaining Walls (1-50ft., 1-40ft.) He is very knowledgeable of his trade and very professional.- Always On time and very hard worker. His quote was Very reasonable and competitive. I was so happy with the work he did on my Retaining Wall Installation ...that I hired him to do another job... re-facing my fireplace with Stack-stone. Dean tackled a difficult restoration of sixty year old brick planters. I had contacted other masons who turned the job down saying it was impossible to repair. Dean not only repaired the walls using the old bricks, but it looks better than new. He was on time, kept the area clean and did exactly what he said he would do.

Dean was always on time and the quoted price was the price we paid. We needed some other work to be done (we didn't realize that Dean could do these projects) and he was able to fit these in. Dean was very receptive to my questions and when I had some minor issues with some of the work, he readily fixed them.

On time, clean, easy to work with

I had to call to get the wood form removed. First answer as to when - leave it there to rot away. He finally came and removed it. The brick slabs are settling unevenly now. It has been about 2 weeks since they were installed. Stone and then sand were laid first. How much tamping was done I don't know but with the brick slabs settling unevenly, I don't thnk it was enough.

Can't rave about Dean and Stephen enough. These guys came in to finish a patio project for my wife and I, and could not have possibly done a better job, provided a more reasonable pricing structure, been more pleasant. Dean made the whole process easy and was more than willing to insure that we ended up with a beautiful patio. Thank you Dean and Stephen, you guys do great work.

He doesn't charge until he is finished. He is still completing a related job for us. .

Hawthorn Masonry work was detailed and excellent. Dean Hawthorn's crew was super, courteous and diligent. They built a major block and mortar retaining wall, hill side terrace walls, and a paver patio for me. They were on time, on budget and the end result was just as I pictured it.
