"Luis and his crew did an amazing job. They worked for 3 days trimming hedges, bushes and vines. Removing bushes that were breaking a retaining wall. They trimmed our palm trees. They hauled away rusted patio furniture, wood, metal, and an old jacuzzi cover. Then they mowed, edged, and blew all the walkways and the patio. They were timely and courteous. I was so pleased with the work that I’ve hired them to do regular lawn service."

"Working with Emily and the team from SD Premier Outdoor was a wonderful experience especially as a first-time homebuyer. We wanted pavers for our small patio and Emily talked me through every step and even offered options to take the cost down into our budget. She was really honest and upfront about costs and timing. What wowed me was how she helped me with the paperwork for our HOA and advised us on the best options to increase our property value. When it came time to install, the people who came out were kind, informative and professional. It was all done efficiently and to code and looks beautiful! We have neighbors coming by complimenting how nice they look. Even months after the work was done, a valve burst in HOA-controlled landscaping causing some light flooding that seeped in from under our pavers. I called Emily and she was helpful and quick to respond. I just can't speak highly enough of this company. If I could give them more stars, I would."

"Kacen and his team pulled up our existing lawn, his design turned it into beautiful low maintenance, water wise front yard that exceeded our expectations. Kacen and his team arrived for work early everyday, worked in the rain, made sure our yard was clean at the end of each day. The entire transformation took 4 days. We received several proposals, C & H proposal was very reasonable and gave us the most for the price that we were able to have our driveway and side walks acid stained. Kacen returned on day 5 to make sure we were 100% satisfied. I have been in contact with Kacen since the project was completed, he is quick to reply and be available to assist. We are extremely satisfied."

"I hired Green Land after meeting with almost a dozen landscape contractors. Jay met with us and went over our plans. Unprompted, he also showed us 4-5 different recent jobs that he had completed. Each of the owners greeted us and encouraged us to look no further. We are happy we ended up choosing Green Land. Theyve done a lot of houses in the La Costa area of Carlsbad and some in Del Mar. Really high end work. PROS: Workmanship. Attention to detail. Our pool was built in 2016 and we have had ZERO issues. Overall design was amazing. It made a huge difference to the front and back of our property. Green landscaping (our water bill dropped about $50/month despite adding more plants). Did I mention the workmanship? Second to none and still more cost effective than 90% of the bids we got. We cant wait to save up to buy another home to get to do the landscaping again. CONS: None! Ive recommended them to a few of our neighbors. From the looks of the signs in the neighborhood, it looks like they took our advice, too."

"The company did a terrific job building the retaining wall--it looked even better than I had hoped. The quality of construction was excellent, they arrived on time, completed the job as promised, were courteous and responsible, and all at a fair price. I highly recommend Quetzal Landscapes."

Customers say: Quality work

"This was an important project for me. I was replacing an old concrete driveway, walkway and front porch and adding a small front patio, and I wanted it to look great. The project manager, Ronald, was very thorough, helpful, and responsive to my concerns throughout the project. The end result is stunning, adding a lot of curb appeal to my little house. I am very happy with the outcome, and would recommend this company."

Patios questions, answered by experts

A solarium is a luxury addition to a home and can be an excellent breakfast area or reading space, but that doesn't mean there aren't disadvantages. For one, since the room is made of glass it can look dirty very quickly. Another disadvantage is solariums are notoriously hard to balance temperature and will most likely significantly increase your heating and air conditioning bill. Unlike a greenhouse addition to a house, a solarium won’t help you grow as many plants.

A screened-in porch requires maintenance to keep the screens clean and in good shape, and you may have to do some screen repair or replacement from time to time. A screen porch isn’t an all-season porch, so the weather can get in, including wind and rain.

Whether it's better to add a sunroom or a regular room to your home depends on your goals. If you need extra bedrooms, building rooms with four standard walls makes more sense than adding a sunroom. If you don't need extra sleeping areas but would like to expand the living space of your home, a sunroom makes sense.

Prefab kits like a small sunroom for around $20,000 or even a basic gazebo roof for as little as $60 can save you big over professional installation. However, you lose the option for customization, and these structures tend not to last nearly as long. As for bigger projects like a deck or patio, you shouldn’t go with the DIY route unless you’re fully prepped with the tools and know-how to get it done right. Mistakes can be frustrating and costly, so choose a pro if you’re looking to eliminate your risk of error.

Aluminum, vinyl, and wood all offer unique benefits for durability and aesthetics.
