"We woke up 6:15 Sunday morning by the doorbell; Our neighbor alerting us to flooding coming out under our garage door. I called several companies and Gordon was the first to call back before 8:00 am. He would have come out on Sunday but we decided we could hang on till Monday. He showed up a little before 8:00 am to drain the water heater and was back about an hour later to install the new one. It all went well and the installation looks great; very professional."

"The fill hose for our hot water heater sprang a leak. It looked like it was an easy fix, but it was not an good time for us to fix it ourselves plus we had several other non-emergency plumbing issues to take care of. So we shut the valve and waited until morning to call a plumber. Ray came right on schedule, three hours after I called and replaced the hot water heater hose, fixed a phantom flusher, and replaced two tub faucets that "leak" water profusely when we want all the water to come out of the shower head. When turning off the water to the toilet, the old shut off valve broke. Ray quickly cleaned up the water,  then installed a new valve, hose, and parts inside the tank."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

A sump pump can be plugged into a regular, 110-volt outlet with three-prong openings, but it must have GFCI protections per the NEC, meaning you’ll need a GFCI outlet and circuit. Sump pumps require two outlet openings, one for the plug to the motor and one for the float switch.

Some sump pumps are powered by water rather than electricity. Water-powered sump pumps generally use one gallon of city water to pump out two gallons of water from its basin. Therefore, if you're looking at a potential 10,000-gallon flood, your sump pump will need to use 5,000 gallons of city water to prevent it.

3/4 HP is stronger than 1/2 HP. Horsepower measures how much weight can be moved and how fast, or the power needed to move 550 pounds one foot in one second. 1 HP equals 550 foot-pounds per second, so the higher the horsepower, the heavier the load it can lift. While 1/2 HP is a standard, powerful option, 3/4 HP has the extra strength to handle heavier, larger doors with ease.

Sewer ejector pumps need to be cleaned at least once a year by a professional. You shouldn’t attempt to clean it yourself because it can release sewer gasses that are toxic to humans and can be fatal. But to keep the system as clean as possible between professional inspection and cleaning services, be sure to only flush human waste and toilet paper. Avoid flushing items that can clog the system, like paper towels, grease, oil, or menstruation products.

If you notice any new sump pump noises, such as persistent clanging or gurgling, then you likely have a sump pump problem on your hands. Foul odors coming from the pump can also indicate problems. Additionally, if your unit turns on but doesn't pump water, you might have to address electrical problems. In any of these cases, it's a good idea to hire a professional to address the issue.
