"We had a custom-home built in Cardiff a few years ago and it was taking the builder way too long to finish all the last details. After much frustration I hired Nate to complete all of the finish work. He completed everything quickly, efficiently, and did a really great job! He was also able to make some significant changes, like putting a different size window in the master bedroom. We were so impressed with his work that we also had him do some things at our place of business, including painting and building an entire room for all of the computer equipment. I would absolutely hire him again!"

"Al and his crew do an outstanding job! We have used them for both housecleaning and handyman services. Highly recommend. They have done a spring/deep cleaning which made the house look sparkly clean again, as well well as bi weekly cleaning to keep it maintained. In additon, we needed two doors replaced and they were able to handle this in just a few hours and at a reasonable price."

Handyman Services questions, answered by experts

Handypeople usually don’t hold trade licenses, so they typically aren’t qualified to tackle projects involving installing or making alterations to plumbing or electrical lines. Below are some jobs that a handyperson usually won’t be able to complete:

  • Installing plumbing for a new kitchen or bathroom

  • Replacing plumbing pipes

  • Installing or repairing septic systems

  • Running new electrical wiring

  • Installing a subpanel

Discuss design preferences and material choices before work begins for cohesive results.

You can tackle hanging Christmas lights yourself with the right tools, accessories, and a trusted friend or neighbor. You’ll need to purchase a ladder ($100 to $300), clips ($10 to $20), hooks ($10 to $15), and lights ($25 to $100 per string).

Otherwise, you should hire a trusted holiday light installer near you. You’ll pay an average price of $200 to $650, but you’ll have peace of mind knowing that the job is done correctly and safely.

Whether a scullery is worth it depends on how much you like to cook and entertain. If you frequently host gatherings—a scullery is likely worth the money. If you’re looking for ROI, it’s not so clear. It may not add significant value to your home, as it doesn’t increase square footage and may repurpose space that a buyer would have preferred to remain as-is (like a laundry room).

Most contractors do not charge for meetings, but it can depend on the project, mainly if it includes detailed consultations or project planning. For general estimates, homeowners shouldn't expect to be charged. Always ask up front about meeting fees to avoid surprises and ensure you know what’s included in the process.
