"I have a massive 90 year old Deodar Cedar in my front yard. It has the habit of dropping large limbs every few years. I've used 4 different tree services over the last decade to try to keep the tree healthy and lower the chances of it dropping more limbs. I haven't been satisfied with the other tree services so I decided to try Bruno Ferazza. The owner David and his crew of 3 guys did a great job. They arrived ahead of time around 7:20 and left at 3:30. They were all very friendly and professional. The tree climber was amazing. He found many broken, fallen and cracked branches. They cleaned it all up and reduced weight from many of the healthy branches. The price was more than fair. I used an Angie's List special deal. I highly recommend David Ferazza and his crew!  "

"These guys showed up on time and ready to get the job done. They were thorough from start to clean up. What I was quoted from another company that it would take 4 days, these guys did in 1 day. I would totally recommend Genesis Tree Services."

"The team that did the work was awesome. The tree was right next to two fences. There was another large bush and a play structure around it as well. They took this tree down with precision. Nothing was damaged and the play structure didn't need to be moved. Not the cheapest but well worth it. Will definitely use baileys any time I need tree service."

"Jennifer from Bailey came out to my house and evaluated the tree project and gave me a good estimate of the work to be done. Their follow-up was very good and the crews that came out did a good job. I would definitely recommend them if you are looking for tree services."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Trees that flower in the spring—like dogwood, cherry, magnolia, and pear—should not be pruned during the winter. These spring-flowering plants grow buds on old growth, so you’ll actually remove what would’ve been gorgeous flowering foliage. Instead, wait to prune until right after they bloom, when the flowers fade.

It depends. Smaller, younger trees take longer to mature, but they're more resilient, their roots don't get as damaged during transplanting, and they recover faster. Plus, they're much more affordable to plant, and it's possible to DIY the planting.

On the other hand, mature trees produce fruit faster and provide more shade and privacy immediately. Ideally, a small or medium tree is the better choice if you can wait a few years for it to mature. But if you need immediate maturity, a larger tree is the only option.

Consumers typically do not need to worry about the cost of tree insurance, as professional tree service companies pay for their own coverage. For a tree service business, an average U.S. policy covering about $1 million in general liability costs roughly $40 a month or $500 a year. More extensive policies, providing between $500,000 to $2 million in coverage, can cost between $3,000 and $6,000 annually, depending on the company's size and scope of work. Tree service professionals should speak with an insurance company to determine the right plan for their business.

It’s possible, although a lot depends on the cause of damage and what steps you take. If the remaining parts of the maple tree are alive and not under attack by disease or pests, they can often be saved even if large portions of the maple tree have died. Frequent watering, careful pruning, mulch, and any recommended fungicides or insecticides can all help with survival.

The best way is to start controlling tree height long before it grows too large, via careful pruning through the years. But that’s not always possible. If a tree has become too high or too large, use selective pruning to remove the most troublesome branches, one by one, without topping the tree. Gently shaping a tree like this can, over time, correct problems. You can also find growth inhibitors to spray on a tree to stop it from growing too rapidly, but use these sparingly if at all.
