"Due to a break in our main water line, we needed immediate assistance. Steve came out the same day, about an hour after we called. He was able to pinpoint the problem, schedule us immediately, and we did not have to trench our entire driveway. Work was done fast and efficiently for a reasonable price (another large plumbing company had quoted us double the cost). In all, we are very pleased with The Plumbing Pros and will be using them for all our plumbing needs. I would highly recommend them!"

"I can’t say enough good things about Wolcott Plumbing. From start to finish, the experience was smooth, professional, and stress-free. He was responsive, punctual, and took the time to clearly explain what was going on and what needed to be done — no pressure, no upselling, just honest work. The quality of his workmanship is excellent. Everything was done efficiently, cleanly, and with great attention to detail. You can tell he truly cares about doing the job right, not just getting in and out. It’s rare these days to find someone so knowledgeable, reliable, and trustworthy. If you’re looking for a plumber you can actually feel confident calling — whether it’s a small repair or a bigger issue — I highly recommend Zach and Wolcott Plumbing. We will absolutely be using him again and recommending him to friends and family."

"Marco is amazing! Our water heater was leaking and we had no idea how long it had been going on, so we were very concerned. We contacted Home Advisor and Marco called us within minutes. He was here in less than 2 hours. The price was reasonable and he explained everything very clearly. He was back in less than 2 hours with all the parts and a new water heater. Install was completed 2 hours later. Who would have thought you could get that kind of same day service!! I called a couple of other plumbers before contacting Home Advisor, and still have not heard back from them. :( Marco owns a small family business so not only do I recommend him for his price, response time and super friendly customer service, but it feels great to support a small business instead of a big box store. Definitely recommend him and will use him for all my plumbing needs in the future!"

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

A sewer cleanout typically looks like a white or gray PVC pipe with a removable cap. It's often located either in your yard or basement, depending on your home's plumbing configuration. The cleanout pipe is designed to provide easy access to your sewer system for maintenance and inspections. It may be flush with the ground or slightly elevated, making it distinguishable from other pipes. When you remove the cap, you can access the sewer line directly or determine its direction, which can be helpful when you need to locate your sewer line from your house to the street.

Most people tend to use outdoor spigots more frequently in the summer. Watering plants, filling kiddie pools, having neighborhood water fights, and washing cars and pets are all outdoor activities people do when it's hot and sunny. The heat causes the pipes to expand, weakening the metal and creating cracks. The sudden spike in water use combined with this effect is why pipes burst often in the summer.

The type of valve that’s best for water shut-off is the ball valve. These are considered by many plumbers to be the most reliable type of valve, and they’re the type most used for main water shut-offs. These valves only require a quarter turn of a handle to open or close fully.

The signs of a bad mixing valve in a shower include water that’s scalding hot or freezing cold, a leak in your shower, a lack of hot water, and low water pressure. If you suspect there’s a problem with the mixing valve, call a pro to inspect your shower and replace the valve if necessary.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to move wastewater and solid waste to the municipal sewer or septic tank. However, for fixtures located below grade (e.g., in a basement), gravity is not sufficient.

The purpose of a sewage ejector pump is to actively pump this wastewater and solid waste upward into the main sewer line. Without an ejector pump in this situation, wastewater would have no way to exit and would eventually back up, causing a sewage overflow or flooding in your basement. If all of your home's plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity can handle the drainage, and an ejector pump is not needed.
