When I remarked that his pricing was significantly higher than the other bids, the discussion suddenly veered into car dealership mode. "Well, we're flexible on the price, but I'll need to call my manager first... can I see the written quote of the other guys?... are you prepared to place the order now?" It was an unfortunate turn since I really respected their insights on tankless water heater conversions up to that point."
