"This company was FANTASTIC. Javier completely understood the problem and didn't waste my time or money. Never tried to upsell like one of the past plumbers tried to pull with me. This was my third plumbing company before going through HomeAdvisor for Alliance United. You all saved me $3,500 in unnecessary work!!! Thank you!!!"

"My project ended up not being a leak caused by the toilet but rather a leak from my foundation. The gentleman from Diplomat checked around the outside perimeter of my house and informed me of the situation. This man is a Saint ,coming out yesterday when I expressed I had 2" of standing water in a bathroom, in one of the "worst rain storms in the last 10 years in my area". I offered to pay him for his trouble and apologized for thinking the trouble was a Leaky" toilet but he refused any compensation just saying "remember us if you ever need a plumber in future""

"I was overall unimpressed with Payless but they did have some redeeming qualities, though it took a bit of work to get there.
When I first called, I was quoted a price over the phone of just under $1000 for the base cost of the until + installation, but was told that I should allow for a couple hundred dollars cushion for all the unforeseen circumstances of my particular home, which I was totally fine with.
The technician arrived on Saturday, Jan 9 and saw my setup.  He noted that he would have to replace the unit itself, the connections as there was corrosion, install an expansion tank so it would be up to code, etc.  When all was said and done, the price was nearly double at over $1800 for a complete install.  I know they work on commission, but I definitely felt like this was a bit of a bait and switch scenario.
This was much more than I expected to pay, especially based off the (under)bid I got on the phone.  However, when you haven't had hot water for a couple of days with small children int house, you don't have the time and convenience to comparison shop, so I opted to move forward since Payless had gotten decent reviews on Angies List.
When the work was done, I examined it and it looked okay and we did have hot water, but I did question the way he set up the connections.  And there was something else that seemed off, but not being a plumber, I couldn't put my finger on it.
The next day I called in a friend who is a plumber to take a look and within a second he saw the issue.  Even though my entire house was copper piping, the tech used galvanized pipe on the install.
Considering how much money I had spent, I was upset that I got a technician who decides to maximize his profit by installing galvanized piping, knowing that it corrodes over time and really should only be used for gas.
When I called the company to complain, I spoke with a person who said the manager would call me on Monday.  After not hearing from anyone, I called back myself and was directed to Chris who was less than friendly.  He told me that galvanized was up-to-code and I should have requested brass or copper fittings if that's what I wanted.  I felt like that was an unprofessional answer, as I was not a plumber and was paying for their expertise in this area.  And when I complained about the gap in price from the phone call to install, I was told "Well, you signed the contract.  Maybe next time read it before you sign." which was infuriating and unprofessional to say the least.
He finally agreed to swap out the fittings for me but said the same technician had to come back and do it.  I scheduled my appt for the next Saturday morning.
By that Saturday afternoon, he had still not shown up.  I called throughout the day to get a status and on this last call was told "He hasn't shown up for work today and we can't get a hold of him so we'll have to reschedule."
I had been home ALL DAY waiting for this tech, so I explained that wouldn't be acceptable as I just rearranged my entire Saturday and had I not been persistent in calling,  likely wouldn't have heard from anyone.  They called me back and told me another tech would come by today.
That tech came by and was clearly more experienced and knew what he was doing much more than the first tech.  He was pretty taken back that the other tech had used galvanized and not only swapped out the fittings, but redid the setup to be much cleaner.
So at the end of the day, I got a great heater and correct installation, but it took some time, effort and persistence to get there.  Normally, I would have been much more easy affable about the situation, but the way Chris spoke to me on a couple of occasions really made me feel unvalued as a customer, especially when trying to right a wrong that should have never been the case.

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Plumbers start out at the apprentice level and then move up through the different levels of plumbers over their careers. After being an apprentice, plumbers move to journey-level and finally, plumbers who have met certain requirements for education and experience move up to master plumber. Most plumbers working on your home’s plumbing will be journey-level plumbers.

When positioning a pot filler, it should be mounted at a height that allows for convenient access without obstructing the cooking area. A general guideline is to place it 18 to 24 inches above the stove. For a more customized height, measure your most-used pots and install the filler 5 to 10 inches above your tallest one. Regarding horizontal placement, while centering the pot filler can be aesthetically pleasing and ensure it reaches all burners, it is often safer to install it to the left or right of the cooking surface. This placement helps you avoid reaching over a hot stove and reduces the risk of the filler itself getting hot from a large boiling pot. If you do choose to center it, be careful to avoid burns.

Removing calcium and lime buildup will often fix a clogged faucet head. You can usually remove any buildup with distilled white vinegar or a combination of vinegar, dish soap, and baking soda. Sometimes, the problem is buildup on the aerator, in which case removing and cleaning that part should fix your water flow. However, the design of some aerators makes them difficult to clean. For those, replacing the aerator will get the faucet flowing well again.

As long as you have the correct tools, know how to turn off the water lines, and are able to work in tight spaces, replacing a faucet in a bathroom is a potential DIY job. It requires many of the same steps as replacing a kitchen faucet, but it’s more challenging than replacing a showerhead. It could take anywhere from one to four hours to do the job yourself, while a plumber may only need one to two hours.

In some cases, the answer is yes. Being licensed to work on gas lines requires additional specialized training beyond being a licensed plumber. If the plumber is also licensed as a natural gas plumber, they will be able work on natural gas lines. If the plumber is only licensed to work on water and sewer lines, then you’ll have to find another professional to do gas line work.
