"My wife Sheri and I met with one of the owners Kevin to go over the estimate and process. Kevin was very professional and there pricing was fair. He explained what the process was! We have confidence that SB Refinishing will implement a great job come Tuesday 11/26/19 at 10:00 am, we will keep you posted! UPDATE: 11/30/2019 We are so 100% satisfied with the results that Kevin and his brother did! Really amazing that you can take an ugly kitchen sink and tub and make it look so new again for so much less the cost of installing a new one! These guys are great!"

"The end work product was exceptional. The contractors were more than willilng to accommodate my schedule. The workers showed up on time and when they said they would. Deadlines were met when I specifically requested deadlines be met on certain projects. I would recommend Ortam Construction, Inc. to both friends and colleagues. Ortam Construction, Inc. definitely deserves "five stars!" Mary"

"I recently had the pleasure of working with Ben on a full kitchen and bathroom remodel. From start to finish, the experience was seamless, professional, and actually enjoyable. Ben was communicative and incredibly respectful of my time and home. He kept me updated every step of the way and made sure all my questions and concerns were addressed promptly and thoroughly. His crew was equally professional, showing up on time every day and keeping the space as clean as possible. The kitchen looks great and is highly functional, and the new bathroom has transformed the way I use the space. Every finish and fixture was installed with care, and it's clear that Ben takes great pride in his work. What impressed me most was Ben's commitment to making sure everything was done right (not just quickly). He noticed things I never would've caught and applied his own high standards to my project. If I ever take on another project, he'll be my first call!"

Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel questions, answered by experts

Adding a bedroom can increase a home’s value more than adding a bathroom, but it varies with factors like the location, age, and condition of the home. However, remember that you might also need to add a bathroom to the home, depending on how many bedrooms and bathrooms you currently have.

The cost of making a bathroom accessible can be $3,000 to $25,000, but you could spend as much as $50,000 building a brand-new ADA-compliant bathroom. Some bathroom accessibility upgrades to consider include:

  • Installing grab bars: $100–$500

  • Lowering cabinets and vanities: $1,200–$2,500

  • Installing modified doors: $700–$1,500

  • Installing a modified toilet: $400–$1,000

  • Installing an accessible sink and faucet: $100–$1,000

  • Adding a walk-in tub: $1,100–$17,000

  • Converting a bathtub into a walk-in tub: $350–$1,000

  • Installing a wheelchair-accessible shower: $2,000–$7,500

  • Installing a shower ramp: $16–$300

It will take between three and five days to complete this project. Plumbing a bathroom is not an easy job. The process of roughing in the plumbing and installing all the fixtures takes a fair amount of time. Take your time and make sure you do the job right or you could end up with costly leaks.

When working on your bathroom floor tiling, you should always tile the floor first and then refit the toilet afterward. This has both practical and visual advantages—the tile will have a better seal, and the installation will look cleaner.

On the other hand, when you try to cut the tiles to fit around the toilet, you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage. It’s a lot more work, it’s hard to be precise, and mistakes or miscalculations can lead to future moisture damage to the tiling, grout, and subfloor.

Most codes require 15 inches on either side of the toilet's centerline (from the wall or vanity) and at least 21 to 24 inches between the toilet and the wall in front of it. These codes ensure that your toilet is easy to use and access, even in small bathrooms. Check your local building codes for the exact measurements required.
