"Jeff answered the phone and made an appointment with me immediately for the same day. He arrived with his wife and son who were very nice. He looked at the electrical panel to try to figure out why we kept having a short in one of the breakers. He said it didn't look like anything was causing it and that particular breaker didn't appear to go to anything. So he left that breaker off and everything has been fine since then. He came back another day to add an outlet in the bedroom, which took him a very short time - so short that it didn't seem like I should have to pay for an hour's work, especially after paying $50 for him to just look at the breakers and tell me nothing was wrong. But he did a good job and he did it quickly, and he didn't try to scam me into spending money that I didn't need to so that's fine.
The reason I gave him an F for professionalism was because after he installed the electrical outlet, he and his wife told me how they lost so much weight in the past week from a new product that de-acidifies your body. He invited me to learn more about it at an upcoming meeting. When I couldn't make it, he started calling me more frequently and pushing the "doctor" who developed it on me, having her call me too. It ended up that she was only a representative as well so the whole thing was some kind of pyramid scheme that suckers people with no scientific background into spending lots of money on useless diet pills. After he sent me multiple very long texts, one at inappropriate time of day, and I demanded that he never contact me again.
Bottom line ... Jeff is a good electrician, but if he starts to talk to you about weight loss, just say no thank you very strongly, letting him know that you mean it.

"After several not so wonderful experiences with other electrical companies over four months, I found Yuma Electric Service. Their technician quickly found my problem and it was fixed the that same day. I would completely recommend Yuma Electric Service."

"It went great, this is a unique service, for DIY-ers. My electric dryer wouldn’t heat, so I went on line and diagnosed the problem and ordered the parts. I also watched several how to videos, but none of them matched my dryer. Finally went on Angie’s list and it matched me up with Tin Lizzee which is a chat service to help you through your repair. The technician I talked with was polite, professional, and knowledgeable. I did get stuck during the repair and they called me on my cell and talked me through what I needed to do. I know I saved a lot of money by not having an appliance repair person come to my house with the mark up on parts and labor rates per hour I believe I saved at least half of the cost, if not more from ordering on line and chatting and talking to the Tin Lizzee technician, it was $30 well spent."

"I used Angie's List to procure English Electrical, and it proved to be an excellent experience.  They came out and gave me an estimate of $725. and explained that it was a laborious job due to creating a 240 connection where there was none, to connect it to the breaker box in the back of the house.  They explained that in order to do it right, they would have to go up through the attic and connect it from one side of the house to the other side, and that it would take two men in order to do it in less time than using only one man.
They arrived punctual, did their work as indicated, (which was installing electricity from an new inside laundry room) to the outside breaker.  My laundry was in the garage up until this installation.  They hooked up the dryer and helped my son with connecting the venting coil to the outside vent, as well.  They also streamlined a large group of mangled electrical coils which were hanging from near the roof of the home, and got them connected into less of a mangled up mess, as well as attached a bathroom vanity light.
They were very kind and polite, timely, and they explained everything along the way.  I would hire them again, in a heart beat.  I was extremely pleased with their work and their timeliness!  They did the job they were hired to do, and did it expeditiously!

Electrical questions, answered by experts

A larger heater requires a larger breaker—unless there’s one already installed. The longer answer to this question is more nuanced. Do you place demands on the heater at the same time as running other heavy-duty appliances like ovens and washing machines? Do you live in an older home that may not have considered the higher electrical demands we have now? Breakers need to be sized at 125% of the load. To find that load, you should call a local electrical pro.

No, wiring does not need to be redone to get a dimmer switch, as they work with single-pole and three-way switches. Just ensure you choose a dimmer that is compatible with your wiring, fixture, and lightbulbs. Most homes built after 1985 have neutral wiring and work with almost all dimmers. If your home was built before 1985 and you don’t have an updated electrical system, you may have to use a non-neutral wiring dimmer.

Yes, electric fences need power to operate. They are powered by either a battery or an electrical outlet. In heavy snow or extreme rain, or if the power goes out, your electric fence might stop working. Knowing how to test an electric fence is important for figuring out if the fence is still functioning properly.

How often you’ll replace your electric meter depends on what type of meter you have in your home. Induction meters can last around 10 years, while static meters will typically last around 20. If you’re unsure which kind of meter you have, a call to your electric company can help ease your mind.

If you encounter any issues or feel unsure about your abilities, stop immediately and contact a licensed electrician for help. It's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to electrical work, as mistakes during the wiring process can be hazardous to your home and personal safety.
