"The owner actually has this product (Pelican) in his home and has tested it. I'll skip the details and let him tell it but I can't recommend them enough. Very thorough and they know the product inside and out. If you're looking for someone to install this system, Pelican, this is the team you want."

"What I was hoping to do didn't make sense so I'm pursuing a do it your self option. I spoke to Jeff Banker personally and he was very helpful, told me my idea didn't make sense since spray on insulation generally looks kind of messy and only makes sense for locations that aren't normally seen. He offered me other ideas and one was simple and easy enough that I'll just do it myself. I will keep him in mind though if/when I decide to spray foam elsewhere in my house. Thanks!"

"Due to widespread storm damage in SE Arizona on 1-21-2010 my asphalt shingle roof was damaged by high winds allowing rain to enter home further damaging drywall interior. I searched the Service Magic, Dex Yellow Pages and became a member of Angie's List to find a contractor who would come out and do emergency repairs. Service Magic provided the name of Acra Construction LLC under the search parameters of "Roofing Contractors" and "Green Valley, Arizona". I submitted my project and requested contact, the contractor responded and I hired him by phone. The contractor arrived and removed damaged materials, installed a quality temporary repair and did his work in a very satisfactory manner."

"Roberto was the technician and he was very professional, polite, and personable. He inspected the rest of our system and told us things that needed to be changed or repaired. He showed me pictures of everything. Everything he told me about was accurate. He quoted me a price for R38 insulation , Some of our ducts were plastic and he recommended them to be changed. I agreed completely and didn't know they were plastic. I would have had them done the work but I had no price comparisons to make and besides I didn't have the money right then. So he just finished the vent cleaning and left his card. He did a great job on the vent cleaning and was happy with the work."

Drywall Insulation FAQs, answered by experts

While it’s most common to sand plaster dry, it is possible to wet-sand plaster, too. Doing so can reduce the amount of plaster dust released into the air and make it easier to work in smaller, more delicate areas (such as around wall trim). However, some people find that wet sanding leads to more imperfections, which is why larger walls are more often dry sanded to ensure an even finish.

You can drywall an unheated garage because the material handles cold temperatures perfectly well. There are no risks or downsides to installing drywall in a garage that is not heated, and the material stands up to moisture and other elements quite well. Drywall will protect your unheated garage's electric wires and cables and add fire protection. However, for effective bonding, you should install drywall at a temperature of 55 degrees Fahrenheit or higher.

Yes, taping inside corners is a critical step in the drywall installation process.  Properly taping inside corners is essential for achieving a professional look, and an installation that resists cracking and maintains its integrity over time. Taping the corners involves the application of a joint compound along the seam where two drywall pieces meet. This process provides reinforcement, conceals the seam, and prevents future gaps or cracks from developing.

To hide drywall edges, you need to properly apply drywall tape and multiple layers of joint compound. These materials hide the seams between drywall sheets and fill the holes from drywall screws, leaving behind a smooth, flat finish to paint over. Apply joint compound smoothly, and finish the job by sanding the walls to make sure you fully hide drywall edges and other imperfections.

Yes, you can speed up the time it takes for plaster to dry, but it's important to do so carefully to avoid issues like cracking or crumbling. Proper ventilation is key; open a window or use a fan to circulate air in the room. Heat can also accelerate drying, but be cautious, as too much heat can cause the plaster to dry too quickly and crack. Check the plaster's packaging for the recommended drying temperature and set the room's thermostat accordingly. While managing humidity is important, avoid using a dehumidifier, which can remove moisture too aggressively and result in crumbly plaster.
