"Tony Goldman was our representative for Attic Construction and he was very professional! He took his time to crawl into the attic during the initial consultation and clearly explained what the company would be doing to remove the old insulation, sanitize the attic, rodent proof the entire house and attic, and blow in the new insulation. The working crew on the day of the project was the most hard working group of guys. They worked hard to get everything done in one day. The house smells and feels much lighter after having Attic Construction, Inc here."

Kasi is a local, family-owned and operated spray foam insulation contractor. We service Phoenix, Tucson, Prescott, and northern Arizona. Two brothers, Patrick and Paul Kariniemi, founded Kasi in 2010. Prior to starting Kasi, Patrick spent ten years with a spray foam roofing company in Phoenix and Paul was an industrial construction contractor in Minnesota. Although we’ve tested nearly every foam insulation product available in Arizona, we’ve only purchased foam from a few suppliers. We have an 11-year long relationship with our injected foam manufacturer and a five year long relationship with our spray foam supplier. Since each foam insulation product has its own application characteristics, we’ve found that you have a lot fewer problems by sticking with reputable manufacturers who stand behind their products. As a result, our technicians are experts in the products they install.\n\n

"So far we only had the energy survey and report (sales pitch). The technician and sales rep were courteous and provided answers to our questions. Neither were pushy. We are doing comparatives on the cost of adding insulation to the attic and sealing leaking vent, ducts and returns. We told them we were not interested in Solar and they did not force the issue. They did suggest we do the outlets and door molding ourselves."

"I called to set up a free consultation and was promptly met at the agreed upon time. We discussed my desires and how to achieve my project goals. I was given a quote and agreed upon the price for the garage work to be done the following week when I was free. The spray foam and "drill and fill" have been awesome! I have a 24K BTU AC unit in the garage that was unable to keep the temps low as there was so much heat in the garage all day. After the insulation was done it can hold the temps at 70F in the garage while barely turning on during the day. The attic above the garage tops out at 85F when it was over 110F outside, just amazing. We had them do a home energy audit and found that there were plenty of leaky areas in the attic and the insulation was 15 years old and about an R-10 level. It needed some serious work so we agreed to have it topped off with new fiberglass insulation. The guys came out and did and amazing job bringing me up to R-39 as well as keeping the house very clean while doing it. On both days they cleaned up after themselves and took great care of my house. I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone that could use more insulation!"

"Sam and his partner did a great job overall. Their price was very reasonable for the work they did. After they left and I was working to patch up the drywall holes, I noticed 2 wall openings where the insulation didn't fully fill the walls, due to electrical wiring in one wall and a AC drain pipe in the other wall. I called Sam and they came out promptly and refilled those 2 walls more completely. I didn't give a 5.0 on quality because they didn't use a stud finder to get more accurate hole cuts, and they didn't make extra holes around the area where the electrical box is located, to make sure to fill above and below this box (but as I mentioned above), they did come back promptly to fix the issue as I requested."

"The installers showed up on time, were very courteous, completed the job within a few hours, cleaned up and were gone. They did an very good job of installing the insulation and now I can't wait to see my bills go down. The cost of the project was a little more than I wanted to spend but I see it was worth it. It was something I couldn't do myself. I would recommend."

"What I was hoping to do didn't make sense so I'm pursuing a do it your self option. I spoke to Jeff Banker personally and he was very helpful, told me my idea didn't make sense since spray on insulation generally looks kind of messy and only makes sense for locations that aren't normally seen. He offered me other ideas and one was simple and easy enough that I'll just do it myself. I will keep him in mind though if/when I decide to spray foam elsewhere in my house. Thanks!"

"Overall, the ceiling cavity insulation project went well. Pricing was very reasonable compared with other quotes, and job was done when quoted and clean up performed well before leaving job site. The only negative was we never received any paperwork, either formal quote or contract. Uncomfortable having no documentation on a project of this size or scope."

"Austin and his crew from Good Attic installed new blown in insulation to my 25 year old home. The work was performed right on time. I have access to my attic in the laundry room and through my kitchen pantry. Both were used to get to different locations in the attic. Both areas were left clean with no residue or debris. The yard where the equipment was blowing in the insulation was left clean at the completion of the job. The price for the service they provided was very reasonable. Austin answered all questions we had for him. We look forward to a savings on our upcoming power bill this summer. I would recommend Austin and Good Attic to anyone wanting to add additional insulation to their home. Thanks again."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

There is no way to cut drywall without making dust, but you can reduce the amount of dust and especially the dangerous airborne particles by using manual cutting tools. Using a utility knife to score and snap your drywall will minimize dust production, and a jab saw for cutting cutouts for boxes and fixtures will generate almost no airborne dust. Even if you use these methods, you should still wear a respirator and safety goggles to avoid damage to your lungs and eyes.

The amount of drywall you need for a 1,000-square-foot basement depends on the ceiling height, angles, number of doors and windows, and more. To find the wall square footage, multiply the width and height of each wall, minus any gaps from windows or doors, and add the totals together. You’ll also need enough drywood nails or screws to install the drywall correctly.

It's generally recommended to hang drywall on the ceiling first before moving on to the walls. This sequence allows the ceiling sheets to provide support for the vertical wall sheets. By attaching the ceiling drywall initially, you establish a solid framework to align and attach the wall panels accurately. This method ensures a seamless and sturdy connection between the ceiling and walls, resulting in a more professional finish.

Furring strips, thin strips of wood or metal, are not always required for ceiling drywall installation. If the ceiling surface is even and in good condition, drywall can be directly attached to the ceiling joists using screws. However, furring strips become essential when dealing with irregular surfaces or when additional insulation or soundproofing is needed. They create a level substrate for attaching the drywall. Ultimately, the decision to use furring strips depends on the condition of the existing ceiling and the specific requirements of the project.

It’s highly recommended to use studs for a TV mount. The last thing you want is to be watching your favorite show when the TV falls off the wall. Studs are much stronger than drywall and quite a bit stronger than drywall anchors but, if you can’t find the studs or there simply aren’t any where you need them, you can use drywall anchors. It’s extremely important to make sure the anchors are rated for the load of the TV. We recommend using anchors that are rated far beyond the weight of whatever you’re hanging. Our suggestion is metal drywall toggle anchors.
