"This was a painless and educational experience. Mark Garcia and his helper were here when he said they would be, set right to work but kept me informed throughout. He originally said a two day job, windows one day and screens the next. When one window wasn't quite right he took it back to the shop to re-do it but also did the screens and returned about an hour later and completed the whole job in one day. This Company is a keeper."

Small jobs welcome

"The owner, James, was excellent and I'm very pleased. He was on time for the bidding process, got the bid back immediately, ordered the glass perfectly and installed my glass windows to perfection. I will definitely use his company again as my windows age. Plus, he was extremely professional, very nice and friendly."

"Wonderful experience. Very reasonably priced & the customer service was stellar. I needed to have a window reglazed & the work was done quickly and efficiently. It's so nice to not hear the wind whistling in thru my bedroom window! Maybe the best part of the experience was that Michael cleaned the window for me before he considered the job complete.... :)"

Windows questions, answered by experts

Most manufacturers have their name imprinted somewhere on the window, such as the spacer bar, hardware, or frame. Other manufacturers will include an identification number printed on the glass itself. If you’re unable to find either of these, then your window was manufactured locally (oftentimes called a “shop window”).

With a manufacturer name (or even better, the identification number) you can attempt to research the information to find out when the product was made. Keep in mind this won’t tell you when the window was installed on your home, but can get you close.

Yes, you can absolutely put a screen on a casement window, and most casement windows come with screens. Unlike with a double-hung, single-hung, or sliding window, the screen in a casement window sits on the inside of the window so that the sash can freely open outward. Screens are especially important for casement windows because the large window opening the window provides leaves your home more open to bugs and outside debris than most other types of operable windows.

In most cases, it's worth it to install hurricane windows—especially if you live in an area prone to hurricanes and storms. Hurricane windows not only protect your windows from breaking but also protect the interior of your home from storm damage while also potentially reducing your homeowner's insurance premium. On top of that, hurricane windows have an ROI of 80% to 85%.

Deciding whether to repair or replace a window depends on the specific issue, the window's age, and the cost-effectiveness of the solution.

Repair is often better for:

  • Minor issues such as a single broken glass pane, a stuck window, or small leaks. Repair is typically more affordable for isolated problems.

Replacement is the better long-term solution for:

  • Major problems like deteriorating or rotting frames, significant leaks, or drafts.

  • If your windows are over 15 years old, as repairs may only be a temporary fix for an aging unit.

  • If you have a widespread problem affecting several windows.

Double-pane windows offer several key benefits, making them a worthwhile investment. They provide superior insulation and energy efficiency compared to single-pane windows, which helps limit heat loss, maintain more comfortable indoor temperatures, and lower your utility bills. The design, which features two panes of glass filled with air or gas, also dramatically reduces noise from outside, making your home significantly quieter. Additionally, the dual-pane construction strengthened by spacers improves the durability and security of your windows.
