"I have nothing but praise for Damian's work. He installed us a level 2 hardwired EV charger and whole home surge protector. His pricing was very keen and his work was done quickly and very neatly. I would recommend him without hesitation. He is a knowledgeable, helpful and personable young man."

"I asked TIO Electric to hardwire my new electric car charger to an existing 50 am circuit, replacing a NEMA plug that already existed. Conrad did a great job - it took two trips due to no fault of his (the manufacturer did not include the required compression lugs) but ultimately was done without issue and works perfectly. Thank you!"

"The category for this service is Lightning Protection Install. Actually, our lightning protection was installed years ago by another company. In April 2020 we had our house re-roofed, and the lightning rods had to be removed before the roofers could work. Sun Valley Electric removed and re-installed the lightning rods and cables before and after the re-roofing. Jared was the technician for Sun Valley. He is a fantastic representative for the company, as is the owner, Jason. I've not met Jason, but I've spoken with him a couple of times on the phone. I give my highest recommendation to both Jason, Jared, and the company. Searching for an electrician? Search no further than Sun Valley Electric!"

"The electricity in my 50 year old trailer burned out last night, and Jason McCray from Sun Valley Electrical and Solar answered my request on Angie's list. He was able to come this morning and help fix the problem (50 year old wiring that had been installed wrong to begin with) with an hour's worth of work. He has up-front pricing, and he doesn't jerk you around I am on a tight budget, and he really saved my butt! I am so grateful that he contacted me."

"Alex explained current electrical codes. My neighborhood is on the National Register of Historic Places so the majority of homes are over sixty years old, including mine. He told me all the things necessary to bring the house to code, so it is an ongoing project. Will hire for more work in the Fall."

Ev Charger Installer questions, answered by experts

Yes, you should get a quote or an estimate from an electrician. Most electricians offer free estimates or quotes. When getting quotes, do your research and verify each electrician’s license. Get quotes from three different electricians to compare. If the prices or items listed appear different on the quotes, ask the electrician to clarify. Learning as much as you can about the electrical work you want done will help you get the most accurate estimate.

Local electricians with experience in your area understand the local building codes, which is very important when doing new electrical work. They also have experience with the kind of electrical problems homes in your location may have, and even the components that were used in the original construction, which leads them to make faster and better decisions.

You can plug your electric car into a regular 120-volt household outlet only if you’re using a Level 1 charger. This method is slower and may take several days to fully charge your EV. For faster charging, you’ll need a Level 2 charger, which requires a 220- or 240-volt outlet.

Yes, electricians must be licensed, certified, and in most cases, insured. Licensing requirements vary by state and local municipality, but most U.S. municipalities require electricians to hold an electrical contractor’s license. It's always a good practice to confirm requirements with your local municipality. Even if licensing is not required in your area, hiring a licensed and experienced electrician often leads to a better end result.

A license is a legal requirement to operate a business and is necessary for pulling project permits. Certifications, on the other hand, are typically voluntary and demonstrate a certain level of expertise. In some cases, a certified electrician may send an apprentice or journeyman to perform the work, but they must operate under a primary electrician who holds the proper license.

Before hiring, you should verify the electrician's license, insurance coverage, and any third-party certifications. You can use Angi’s contractor licensing search to confirm a pro's license status. Additionally, businesses with the “Angi Approved” badge on our platform meet strict criteria, including having the required state and local licenses, passing a background check, and maintaining a high average rating.

Hire an electrician the same way you would an employee. Ask questions and look for a good fit. Streamline the process by using these questions to ask an electrician. It's also common to ask for a quote in writing. Don’t forget to provide all the project details to ensure there are no surprises or opportunities for added fees.
