"Do not buy a Kodiak home. My floor plan was wrong. They didn't send me my insulation and have been trying to get a refund for 2 years. They also charged me 15% more after the plans went to manufacturing. This has been a nightmare to say it mildly. There are other steel frame home companies out there."

The construction stage, which includes pouring the foundation, framing the structure or building the walls if you choose a concrete house, and installing doors, windows, a roof, siding, drywall, and flooring, will almost always take the longest. The planning phase can take just as long if you’re building a custom home, but the finishing process, which includes painting, installing trim, and finishing the interior, will rarely take longer than the previous two phases.

Framing tends to be the longest step in the construction process, especially for larger homes. It takes anywhere from one week to a couple of months, depending on the house size, the number of people on the construction crew, and the time of year. The design stage often takes a long time, too. Some people spend months or even years contemplating their house’s size, layout, and materials before construction begins.

A carriage house is a freestanding building, while a townhouse is connected to other units. A townhouse is a full single-family home and typically shares a parcel of land with other connected homes.
