"ABD Plumbing removed and replaced two old toilets. The quoted price was fair. They came when they said they would, completed the work quickly and professionally, and cleaned up afterwards. We were very satisfied with their work and they are our new "go to" plumbers."

Small jobs welcome

"We just recently purchased this home (within 10 months). Over time we have come to find out that there have been many corners cut and major repairs needed. J.L. Wright Plumbing came to our rescue! They were quick, professional and overall reasonably priced. We would definitely hire again. I gave 4 stars for quality, as once they were finished and left- I heard this overwhelming flow of water under the house. I went to turn off at the water heater and it did nothing (meaning busted pipe under). I ran out and shut off the main valve (after trying to get it flush to turn....)- after which at least 75 gallons of water had been disbursed under the home (watched meter- costing us more money in water bill and time of return). I called JL and they came right back and fixed everything correctly. Excellent communication and the (Office Manager?) woman I spoke with was very polite, professional and overall very helpful! Thanks so much!"

They took out the bathtub replaced it with a shower 3 side wall and ceiling  with bench seat, grab bar and wand replace all plumbing fixtures and glass shower doors. Laid ceramic tile in bathroom and vanity area. In vanity area installed new linen closet and vanity with marble top counter replace all the plumbing fixtures here as well. "Joe Heater and his assistance, Josh, did a very professional job replace my tub with a walk in shower. The shower is beautiful and looks very professional installed. Joe and Josh were both very polite, did not goof off, worked very hard for two days. My shower was larger than the average is the reason it took two days. They kept everything cleaned up as they went, no mess left behind. I highly recommend this company!!!"

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

If you find moisture under your sink, you can clean up the worst of it with paper towels or regular towels. Then, leave the cabinet doors open to allow air circulation. You can also place a fan or dehumidifier near the cabinet to help dry it out a little quicker.

That pesky faucet leak can have a few different causes, most of which are standard wear and tear that occurs over time, but that doesn’t make it any less annoying, especially when the energy bill hits:

  • Old washer: A deteriorated washer or gasket is the most common cause of a leak. Luckily, it’s easy and affordable to fix.

  • Old packing nut: There’s a chance the packing nut (located beneath the handle) is loose and simply needs tightening, or it has been worn down, stripped, and needs to be replaced.

  • Freezing temperatures: The water sitting in your spigot over winter can freeze, expand, and lead to damage and leaks.

  • High water pressure: High water pressure is hard on pipes over time and can cause cracks and leaks, too.

Running water can help melt ice inside the pipe, but only up to a certain point. If your pipe is frozen solid, adding water will not likely resolve the issue. Water will begin to flow through the affected pipe once the area is heated by a plumber, signaling the issue is getting resolved.

If a bolt at the bottom of your toilet tank is loose, it can directly cause a leak. If a bolt securing the toilet base to the floor is loose, it won’t directly cause a leak but can lead to the same result over time. That’s because the loose bolts will eventually move the wax seal or cause cracks in the bowl from the toilet being wobbly.

Choosing the right plumbing materials involves balancing durability, cost, and suitability. Common materials include copper, PEX, and PVC.
