"Perfect. I enjoyed getting to sit in the storm shelters at their showroom to help with size selection. After signing up for the install, they connect you to an online portal to manage the contract and to update building permit number, etc. Installation was prompt and clean."

The owners of A-Z Roofing & Contracting, LLC have been serving the general construction and roofing needs of the Alabama and Tennessee businesses and residents for well over 20 years. We also have experience in siding and windows. We pride ourselves on developing a long term relationship with our customers, listening to their needs and then suggesting the proper course of action; be it insurance claims, additions, preventive maintenance, repair or replacement. We use only the highest quality products available in our industry. These are the most "tried and true" as well as the most innovative available today. Our crews are technically trained for each system we install to ensure quality and adherence to manufacturer standards. We are bonded and insured and carry all required insurances for any size or job type.

"great job."

"The lack of integrity and quality of work was not what I expected from a company that has been around for so long. Work ethic and quality of work has greatly diminished over the years. We paid over $21,000 for electrical on a remodel and instead of replacing 40+ year old wiring, they just spliced parts of new wire to the old wire AND left most of the wiring hanging down on the ground. They also had cut the wire in several places and did not fix it until we called them. I would not recommend them or the contractors that use them (Pressnell Enterprises)"

"Had a total roof replacement and notice a leak several months later. Took multiple trips over two months to finally fix the water leak. As a result of the water leaking into the dining room, our wood flooring had mold and severe warping needing a total replacement. Lewis & Son refuses to pay for the floor replacement as a result of their improper roof installation."

Colby Phillips Construction is a family owned and operated local business with over 12 years of industry experience in construction. I opened Colby Phillips Construction in 2009 because I truly love helping people and enjoy building things/restoring things into something beautiful. I started Colby Phillips Construction because I knew I could do things more ethically, honestly, of highest quality, and with more of a personal touch than what I have experienced out there. We are honest in our pricing and our estimates for the work requested. I enjoy making connections and many of my jobs turn into long lasting friendships. I enjoy giving people a good quality job for a fair price. I can also help work with and negotiate with the insurance companies to justify the approval of claims. I do not like anyone being taken advantage of, and I will stand up for injustice and help in every way possible. I differ from my competitors because I truly listen to you as the customer. I will give you options to reach your desired goal. I am very good at exploring options, giving the pros and cons of each choice, while keeping your idea and the desire of you, my customer, as my number one priority. I pledge to you my professionalism, integrity, and good customer service when you choose to partner and engage with Colby Phillips Construction for your home improvement needs.

Garages questions, answered by experts

Your epoxy garage floors will last two to 10 years, depending on foot traffic and maintenance. Clean your floor regularly with a mop or a power washer using a diluted ammonia or degreaser solution. Use five ounces of ammonia per gallon of water or a half-cup of degreaser per gallon of water.

Also, sweep regularly, clean up any spills right away, and install mats in places where you expect the most foot traffic.

Drywalling a garage is a smart decision if you want to protect your garage from fires, moisture damage, and exterior noise. Most garages have flammable supplies that could result in serious damage in the off chance of an accident. Drywall is fire resistant, helping to prevent fires from spreading. Not to mention, drywall can improve the appearance of a dingy, old garage.

The average garage door is meant to last for at least 15 to 30 years. The quality of your garage door, your local climate, and the "wear and tear" that you put on a door can all ultimately impact how long your garage door lasts. If your garage door is failing, you may be able to learn how to replace garage door springs to avoid the need for a full replacement.

Wood, steel, fiberglass, and aluminum are among the top building materials for a garage. Wood is highly customizable, naturally insulative, and durable in mild climates but can be expensive. Steel is lightweight, low-maintenance, and cost-effective, but it’s susceptible to rust. Fiberglass is low-maintenance and doesn’t shrink or expand in changing temperatures, but it can become brittle and crack from prolonged high winds and sun exposure.

Unlike steel, aluminum isn’t susceptible to rust and is low-maintenance, but its ultra-light weight makes it less durable than some materials, and it’s susceptible to saltwater damage, making it a poor choice for coastal homes.

While the benefits of garage door screens usually outweigh the downsides, there are some cons to installing one. First off, they can be quite expensive, especially if you’re having a professional install a retracting screen or a custom size screen. Second, they let fresh air and natural light in, but they also don’t provide the same privacy from people in the neighborhood that a solid door does. As you might guess, screens also won’t insulate your garage, so they’re often not usable in colder weather.
