"First of all they came when they said they would each day and was on time. Bath and vanity area had not been changed since the house was purchased in 1975. They took out the bathtub replaced it with a shower 3 side wall and ceiling  with bench seat, grab bar and wand replace all plumbing fixtures and glass shower doors. Laid ceramic tile in bathroom and vanity area. In vanity area installed new linen closet and vanity with marble top counter replace all the plumbing fixtures here as well. "Joe Heater and his assistance, Josh, did a very professional job replace my tub with a walk in shower. The shower is beautiful and looks very professional installed. Joe and Josh were both very polite, did not goof off, worked very hard for two days. My shower was larger than the average is the reason it took two days. They kept everything cleaned up as they went, no mess left behind. I highly recommend this company!!!"

"AFS came in and did a drainage system and wall seal in our furnished basement and garage. They were great, respectful to us & our belongings. Finished the entire setup, system installation and clean up in 8hrs. Jackson J, Micah and Jackson M we're wonderful, they were professional, courteous and worked continuously while here. I would recommend this company in a heartbeat. Lee at the main office was diligent with following up with us & getting answers for any questions we had. Jacob W did our consult and handled our sales contract, not only did he come initially for an assessment but we asked him to come out again to discuss further details and he was here the same day. They were able to schedule us 5 days later. We were very happy overall."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Yes, frozen pipes can cause a toilet to stop working correctly. If the pipes are frozen, water cannot flow, which can lead to two main problems. First, the supply line to the toilet tank may be frozen, which prevents the tank from refilling with water after you flush. Second, the drain pipe itself can freeze, blocking water from flushing away. As a temporary solution for a non-refilling tank, you can manually add water, but this is not a long-term fix. To clear a frozen drain pipe, you can try pouring warm water into the toilet bowl or tank and then flushing, as the warm water may help thaw the ice blockage. Ultimately, the best course of action is to unfreeze the affected pipes to restore your toilet to full functionality.

Capping a gas line costs approximately $125. The final price varies from $75 and $150 depending on your contractor’s hourly rate. To completely remove a gas line and cap it at the base can cost up to $250. Most contractors will charge a flat fee instead of by the hour since capping is often part of a larger project.

Toilet paper is the only material that you should flush down toilets. Other items like wipes, paper towels, feminine hygiene products, dental floss, and medications should be disposed of in the trash. Flushing these items can lead to plumbing issues and damage to sewage systems. Grease and cooking oils should also be avoided as they can solidify in pipes, causing blockages. Proper disposal helps prevent clogs and ensures the efficient operation of wastewater treatment systems while protecting the environment.

In the best-case scenario, the pipe size is written on the side of the pipe. You’ll often find this with different types of plastic piping like PVC, PEX, or CPVC. For other types of pipes, you’ll have to measure. You can measure the outside circumference with a soft tape measure, then divide your measurement by pi. From there, you’ll have to use a conversion chart to get the nominal pipe size (the size you’d buy in the store).

Plumbers typically install and run gas lines. While most qualified local plumbers can handle this job, you might consider hiring a natural gas line plumber who specializes in this work. Before starting any project, it's best to check with your local utility company. They can offer recommendations for licensed plumbers who are authorized to pull permits and ensure the installation is done correctly. Regardless of who you hire, always verify that they have the proper licenses and credentials for working with gas lines.
