"We had an internal house line leading to the sewer plugged on a Sunday. We couldn't run any water in the house without it coming out of the drain and into the basement. Based on all the positive reviews I read of KJM plumbing, I called Kurt and he was here within 20 minutes with his machine and cleared the clog, which took about an hour. Pleasant, polite man. The price was reasonable for a weekend emergency call. If I need a plumber again, he'll be the first one I'll call."

"

Same day service performed once I discovered this morning I had a problem with house/well pressure. Essentially, the "T" fitting that was installed in 2008, by another company along with new pump, had rusted a hole thru it on backside of fitting (galvanized). Pump was running constantly unable to build up pressure.

Installer replaced with a brass fitting (pulling pipe up from well) and made corrections to how the vertical and horizontal pipes were aligned/supported.

They were very friendly and professional both on the phone and in person. I even got a follow up call after service was completed. Found on Angie's list and was not disappointed. In the event I need further service, they get the

"I was in a bad way when I reached out for a plumber. I had a serious problem that was only getting worse. The gentleman showed up on time and assessed the problem within a couple of minutes, went out to his truck to get the proper tools, and in a short time, he saved the day. I would recommend him to anyone who needs a professional plumber. Great job."

"Top Bros Construction sure did a top-notch job on my bathroom remodel project! I initially called them because I had a leaking toilet that had damaged the hardwood floor and sub-floor in my bathroom. They removed the damaged flooring and replaced it with a new sub-floor and ceramic tile. I was concerned about how the newly-tiled bathroom would transition into the hardwood floor in the hall outside. Cesar, one of the company's owners, assured me that he and his crew would make it a seamless transition and as the attached picture shows, they did. They also provided the labor to install a new toilet, vanity, lighting fixture and accessories in the bathroom including dry-wall repair and re-painting after removing the old fixtures. They brought in a plumber, Roque 's Plumbing and Sewer, to assess the water damage and to professionally install the new sink and toilet. Any concerns or questions I had as the project progressed were answered promptly and professionally. I really appreciated that they did not try to up-sell me at any time and all work was discussed and approved by me before it started. I would not hesitate to use them again and would recommend them without reservation. They are not satisfied until their customer is satisfied. Terrific experience!"

"We are pleased with our bath remodel that included a new tub, tub surround and wainscot walls. There was one small problem with the walls due to the ceiling and walls not being plumb however they did go above and beyond by doing more than was was agreed upon by making plumbing improvements, installing a new lighted medicine cabinet and repairing a light fixture. They were very courteous and the installer even made a suggestion for a change that we agreed would be better."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

A passed inspection from local officials provides the clearest proof of correct plumbing. Thorough professionals document that exterior water lines reach the required 60-inch depth. Request pressure test records for new drain and supply lines before contractors close the walls. You should experience zero slow drains, gurgling, or sewer odors, which confirms proper venting. Finally, ensure your contractor documents all pipe materials used for future WI hard water maintenance.

Helpful?

Successful plumbing requires strict adherence to the 60-inch frost line depth for exterior pipes. You must address local groundwater hardness, which causes rapid mineral scale buildup inside fixtures. Contractors must account for clay-heavy soils that shift during freeze-thaw cycles and stress underground sewer laterals. Always ensure proper winterization, like adding insulation in unheated spaces, to prevent freezing during severe Waterloo winters.

Helpful?

Homeowners frequently underestimate local permit approval timelines during peak spring and summer construction seasons. Plan for delays if your contractor discovers failing galvanized steel or clay pipes that require full replacement. Excavation for underground plumbing takes longer due to heavy clay soils and strict 60-inch frost depth rules. Finally, account for WI hard water conditions by installing treatment systems to protect the lifespan of your brand-new fixtures.

Helpful?

Watch out for quotes missing a state license or skipping local permits. Unpermitted plumbing causes serious resale and insurance problems for your home. Avoid contractors who ignore the 60-inch WI frost depth requirement for underground lines. Finally, reject vague plans that fail to assess existing clay or galvanized steel pipes in older properties before starting any new work.

Helpful?

Flush your water heater annually to remove heavy mineral scale caused by hard groundwater. Schedule periodic camera inspections for aging sewer laterals prone to root intrusion and soil shifting. Test your sump pump every year before the spring thaw to handle seasonal precipitation. Before winter hits Waterloo, inspect pipe insulation in unheated spaces and monitor your water service line for stress from municipal pressure fluctuations.
