"I urgently needed my water softener replaced. He came the same day, made an adjustment to the tank so that the overflow faced the drain and stopped spilling brine onto the water heater. Then he returned the next day and replaced the water softener for a very reasonable price. Kurt responded quickly to texts and my needs."

Same day service performed once I discovered this morning I had a problem with house/well pressure. Essentially, the "T" fitting that was installed in 2008, by another company along with new pump, had rusted a hole thru it on backside of fitting (galvanized). Pump was running constantly unable to build up pressure.

Installer replaced with a brass fitting (pulling pipe up from well) and made corrections to how the vertical and horizontal pipes were aligned/supported.

They were very friendly and professional both on the phone and in person. I even got a follow up call after service was completed. Found on Angie's list and was not disappointed. In the event I need further service, they get the

"Paul was very friendly and helpful. He explained how the toilet was leaking and other possible causes for the small pool of water near the water shutoff valve. This was a revisit from work earlier done which had a larger leak."

Salesperson was pretty knowledgeable, he gave me many options to choose from and tried to direct me to the most cost effective option for my situation.  He was also very knowledgeable on Focus on Energy rebates and available federal tax credits available to me.  I also had him quote a new water heater and softener, even though I ended up not purchasing them.  I ultimately chose a very high efficiency (solar ready) air conditioner, probably more than I needed, but I am happy with my choice as I have seen a large change in my utility bills as he predicted.  The salesperson was not a big fan of solar and actively tried to talk me out of it.  The lead technician was not so negative on solar and I was satisfied working with him, but it took a little extra work on my part.

The installation had a couple of bumps.

Bump 1:  They installed the condensation drain in such a way that it immediately caused a puddle of water on my basement floor.  I called in the problem about 30 minutes after the install techs left.  They did send an expert the same day to fix the problem, and I have not had an issue since.

Bump2:  I had to leave while they were finishing up the install to pick up my son from summer camp, and they said that they would not leave until I returned.  Well, they left before I returned, and they took the previous programmable thermostat that was installed on the old furnace that I wanted to use at a different location.  I called the office, but they could not locate the thermostat, so I pressured them to give me a replacement, which they did, but it is not as nice as my old one.

I am 1 year out from this purchase, and I can say that I am happy with the results.  My utility bills are lower and the house is more comfortable than it has been.

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

No, hard water isn’t dangerous. The added calcium in hard water can contribute to good bone health. However, it can also cause dry skin and hair. If you have dry skin or hair, consider using a water-softening system to help minimize the minerals in your water. Plus, these systems can also add some sodium to your diet.

It depends on the type of surface. For instance, if you’re trying to get rid of hard water deposits on glass, you can spray vinegar onto the surface and wipe it off with a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge. However, if the deposits are on granite or natural stone, it’s better to use baking soda and water rather than vinegar or other acidic cleaners.

Some shower water softeners are effective, but this isn’t always the case. Most shower filters only filter out chlorine, not hard minerals like calcium. Other shower filters can't handle the demand in homes with very hard water. It's also important to change the filters on your shower filters. Failure to regularly swap out old filters will make the filter ineffective over time.

A water softener is a worthwhile investment if you live in an area with hard water. While hard water is safe to drink, it contains minerals like calcium and magnesium that can cause significant problems over time. These minerals build up inside pipes, reducing water flow and eventually corroding the plumbing system, which can lead to leaks and a shortened lifespan. Hard water also damages fixtures and appliances, potentially resulting in costly repairs. Additionally, it makes soaps and detergents less effective, meaning you'll use more product to get things clean. By installing a water softener, you can prevent these issues. The initial investment is often recouped through long-term savings, including lower energy bills, reduced appliance and plumbing maintenance, and spending less on soap and cleaning supplies. Other benefits include cleaner linens, dishes, and clothing, as well as softer water that is gentler on your skin and hair. In some areas, a water softener can also increase your home's value, making it a valuable long-term investment.

Hard water isn’t necessarily bad for you. In some ways, it’s good for you. If you’re deficient in magnesium or calcium, hard water can give you a mineral boost that you wouldn’t get with soft water. However, this is where the benefits of hard water pretty much stop. Hard water can cause many minor inconveniences and lead to costly, premature replacements of your water-using appliances.
