"TLDR: Extremely unprofessional owner. They say you see someoneâ s true character in the face of adversity. I asked for a correction on the bill which was met with gross overreaction, threats and belligerence. I found Andy and Luminosity on Craigslist. I reached out and he was quick to respond via text. I was paying hourly labor and looking for a panel upgrade to 200amp and help running a EV charger to the garage. He was hesitant to come out and see the project so I walked him though the project over the phone. I immediately sent me a list of supplies to pickup which I did. Fast forward to the day we had planned on install. 8:05 am he calls and says the guy he had planned for me is unavailable. I appreciated the call but was disappointed I wasted a vacation day. I moved around my schedule and took another day later in the week. Andy had said I didnâ t need to be around but I have some aquariums I was worried about being without power and I wasnâ t told how long it would take. Anyway fast forward to the day installer Eric shows up. Little late but nothing to complain about, it became clear he wasnâ t given any briefing on the project and we were short many supplies. He made a list and I ran to the store to pickup while he got started. Eric was a good guy, did his best to work with me on doing it right and not cutting corners. It really would have set him up better if someone had come take a look a the project ahead of time. Not long after Eric left I received a text from Andy that I had an invoice. Since I had already bought 95% of the materials it was largely labor time by Eric. After reviewing I could tell he was liberal with the time clock ins. Having security cameras I can tell you down the min when he was here and when he left. This is the text exchange that occurred post invoice review. â Iâ m gonna ask for a slight adjustment on times since I was here and took notes. â I showed him the noted times and where I was being charged an extra hour ($125) unfairly. Andyâ s Response â Unfortunately I have jotted down the hours that are in the invoice, and I did you and favor and didn't tack on my time in all of this, material list conversations with you permit filling out and emailing inspection call. My employees gas to and from his house. Every single bit of time spent on your job costs me money. The invoice isn't changingâ I was quite frankly shocked at this response. I tried giving him a call that was promptly send to the messaging service. My response â Iâ m really saddened to hear this response. Lmk when you have time to have a call. â Andyâ s response â I'm going to cut right to the chase because it aggravates me when it gets to bill time and there has to be a debate and a "call me" so I can jew you down on the bill time. You can pay the bill within a week here or my attorney can mail you the lien notice and small claims notice With the filing fees added on it as well Matter of fact I'm going to have the intent to lien mailed out today before I leave for Florida so your 30 days can start today before filing. Wrong contractor to bill debate with ð â I simply paid the outstanding bill because $125 is not worth my time or stress or arguing about misaligned expectations. Inspection is not even complete yet. Itâ s clear this money is needed much more by Andy. Followup: Inspector said he called Andy but he never returned his calls. I ended up scheduling the inspection and fixing the issues he found myself. Needless to say I will never be utilizing Luminosity again and cannot recommend this company."

I am a general contractor with 22 years of experience. I don't just do it all I do it all WELL, and I take my time to make sure that the customer is happy with the end result. I generally work on a half down, half when the job is completed basis, but I will look at each situation individually and determine what is fair to the customer.

Many different types of ceiling fans are available to cool down your home.
Standard ceiling fans are the traditional-style fans made from plastic, wood, metal, or fiberboard.
Smart ceiling fans allow you to control it with your smartphone or voice commands.
Dual-motor ceiling fans have two motors that produce more airflow in multiple directions.
Energy-Star ceiling fans are similar to standard fans but can be up to 60% more energy efficient than other fans, lowering your utility bill.
Large ceiling fans work best in large rooms where the ceilings are between 10 and 25 feet high.
If you need to install electrical wiring for your new ceiling fan, contact a local ceiling fan installer to help with this project. If you’re not a licensed electrician, installing wiring yourself could be a code violation. Even worse, this project can be dangerous if not done correctly.
However, if you’re replacing an existing ceiling fan, and you are an experienced DIYer, you may be able to install it yourself. This option might involve purchasing a special ladder if you have a vaulted ceiling. Replacing a ceiling fan yourself can save on labor costs, but if you aren’t handy, be sure to call a pro.
Not every ceiling fan is best suited for every room type. The size of the room dictates the size of your ceiling fan. Consult a ceiling fan installer to determine the right fan for your room and reference this sizing information:
Rooms smaller than 75 square feet require a fan of 29 to 36 inches.
Rooms from 75 to 175 square feet require a fan of 42 to 48 inches.
Rooms from 176 to 350 square feet require a fan of 52 to 56 inches.
Rooms over 350 square feet require a fan of larger than 60 inches.
The time it takes to install a ceiling fan depends on whether you have existing wiring. If you’re swapping out one ceiling fan for another, it’ll take one to two hours for your ceiling fan professional to make the switch. However, if your ceiling fan installer needs to install wiring or if it's a difficult installation—places like high ceilings, porches, or attics—it could take up to four hours for complete installation.
The cost to install a ceiling fan is $250 on average, ranging from $85 to $605 or more, depending on the fan type and size and if additional wiring or switches are required.
Standard fans are typically the most cost-effective, ranging from $50 to $300 to install. Complex ceiling fans like rotational fans with a dual motor are usually the most expensive to install, ranging from $200 to $1,500. It’s important to note that installing a ceiling fan in a room without existing wiring is a very complex job that could cost up to $2,000.
