"Expensive, and no follow through. Last spring, on their advice, we changed the pump. From the beginning it seemed to us that it wasn't working right, but the tech said that it was normal. Turns out, they probably knew it wasn't right, but didn't want to be bothered, because this year, half of what the pump pulls in is air. There is no suction, which prevents us from washing the pool (and heat it - with the pool heater we also bought from them). And now because we changed companies for our opening this year (since they almost doubled their price), they won't even send to someone to look at the pump"

We are a very low overhead electrical contractor. We strive to provide our customers with the best and most affordable solutions for their electrical needs.

"I requested a quote to move a light switch 12”. An electrician came out and quoted me $75 plus materials, I said fine and we set up a date/time. I received a bill for over $300! I called and asked why I was billed for 2 guys and 7 hours of work for 1 light switch??!! And they took away my dimmer option. They said they would remove 2 hours from my bill. I’m still stuck paying $290 for one light switch being moved 12”!! This company is crooked! Do not use them!"

Olson Toon is a full service Design-Build Landscape Company, Landscape Maintenance, Landscape Irrigation, Concrete flatwork, Pool installation and Pool Service company.

"We moved into our house on March 1, 2015. We decided to add onto the Tim O'Brian/Olson Toon patio that was provided. From the beginning, it was very difficult to get in touch with them, let alone set a schedule for the work. The work was completed and it looked fine initially. 2 years in, the stairs in the patio are sinking deeply into the ground, damaging the patio and producing a deadly slant to the stairs. I have a 75 year old Mother and a son who has a terminal brain tumor and can't navigate the stairs safely. I asked Olson Toon to come out and they said, 'yeah that looks bad', but offered no repair options, just walked away. This company had been a disaster to work with from the beginning and now doesn't stand behind their work or provide solutions to the crappy job they did. We couldn't be more disgusted with this company."

Pool and Spa Servicing questions, answered by experts

You can drain a hot tub very quickly by using a submersible pump rather than the hose-sized drain at the bottom exterior of the tub. A pump can move up to 30 gallons per minute, draining your hot tub in no time. Using the regular drain can take up to two hours.

Unfortunately, a hot tub does use a relatively large amount of electricity. In fact, much of the money you spend on your hot tub will go toward electricity costs to keep the water heated. A typical hot tub will use anywhere from 1,500 to 6,000 watts of electricity per month.

When your hot tub is completely dry, there is typically no need to introduce antifreeze into the plumbing. However, if you desire an extra layer of protection against potential freeze damage, you can consider adding some RV antifreeze to your hot tub lines. Just ensure that you use RV antifreeze specifically, as automotive antifreeze is highly toxic and should be avoided.

For a fully-foamed hot tub, freezing typically occurs when the temperature drops below 28 degrees Fahrenheit and remains at or below this level continuously for a minimum of 36 hours. If your hot tub and pumps are still operational, however, the water circulates, and this continuous movement helps prevent freezing, even in very cold conditions. This circulation, along with the insulation provided by the foam, helps maintain the water temperature and prevent it from freezing during extended cold periods. Still, if you’re not planning to run it regularly, be sure to winterize the hot tub properly to prevent damage from freezing.

You should put chlorine in your hot tub on a regular basis. To keep bacteria away, keep the chlorine level in your hot tub at between 3-5 mg/l, which may mean you need to add chlorine daily or at least every two to three days. Don’t add chlorine to your hot tub water more than once per day.
