"
She did a great job of incorporating what our kitchen cabinet supplier/designer suggested.   Many of the iterations were handled via e-mail that were both time and cost effective for both of us .  As I stated, after the positive kitchen experience we then hired her for a second floor dormer addition including a dormer with a full bathroom.Although we had a very small footprint for the bathroom, Kristi came up with a cleaver design to get a full bath that incorporated a large shower over the window - she gave us great  advice that a large ? killer? shower would be great for resale.  (so much better than the corner shower I envisioned).  Kiristi did great on meeting all our turn around requests which kept our project on schedule."

"Great, he was prompt and rolled with changes to the plan based on existing construction. Moses installed 2 garage door openers and attic stairs both were on time and on budget."

"I hired Jim Meinen and his team to remove a jacuzzi and put in a walk in shower in the master bathroom as well as a kitchen remodel. Jim is a man of his word and he finished the job in a timely manner, he is a master builder and is 2 steps ahead of any issues that might arise. He and his team are respectful, friendly and leave a spotlessly clean work area and most importantly, know what they are doing. I have been recommending them to all my friends and family and should I need more work done I would not go to any other contractor."

"RNR was hired to take on an extensive project that involved remodeling three apartment units in two separate residential homes. They were quick to respond to provide a free quote, honest about their capabilities for the services needed, and provided a fair price in a timely manner. On top of being incredibly personable and easy to work with, they take pride in their work, always keep a clean workspace, and absolutely deliver on whatever is asked of them (which in this case the list kept growing). They completely transformed the three apartments that they remodeled - from installing cabinets, countertops, toilets, showers, doors, light fixtures, flooring, windows, interior/exterior painting - to fixing unstable decks and chimneys, they can do it all! You definitely won't regret giving them a call!"

"The quality of work was great and I love my new basement. There were a few schedule delays, some that were poorly communicated and led to contractors arriving at the house unable to do work."

"We are very satisfied with the concrete work that was completed. The crew was professional, hardworking, and paid attention to detail. The project was finished on time, and the quality of the work exceeded our expectations. Everything looks great, and we would highly recommend them to anyone looking for concrete services. Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

You should plan on waiting at least a year and ideally two to three years after construction before finishing your basement. This will give the foundation time to settle in response to the weight of your home and the expansion of the surrounding soil. You can then repair your foundation and seal any cracks as needed before finishing it to reduce your risk of future leaks or other issues.

Permits may be required for major repairs, structural work, or electrical and plumbing restoration after a flood. Check with your local building department to determine permit requirements and associated fees for your flooded basement cleanup project. Obtaining the correct permits helps ensure work is done safely and up to code.

Yes, adding a walkout basement will usually bump up your property value. Most homeowners prefer walk out basements because the exposed wall that’s level with the ground provides more utility via a ground-level exterior entrance, and they can fit full windows, which adds natural light and ventilation to the basement area. The only exception might be in areas prone to tornadoes, as walkout basements aren’t as safe as regular basements during a tornado, particularly if they include large windows or glass sliding doors.

Unless you have extensive experience in construction work, remodeling a basement is best left to a professional. There are several tasks associated with this project that require exact precision, including:

  • Replacing insulation

  • Replacing carpet or other flooring

  • Adding heating and cooling

  • Adjusting or adding walls and doors

  • Altering or adding plumbing elements

If any of these elements is done incorrectly, it could severely impact the quality of your basement remodel and be dangerous. Changing a basement often comes with code safety requirements, like egress windows and proper ventilation. Therefore, leaving it up to a professional is often the best decision.

Since DIYing a basement remodel isn't typically advised, there are some ways that you can still save money on this project without putting yourself in danger. Some ways to save money on a basement remodel include:

  • Painting walls yourself versus including in the cost of the remodel

  • Installing light fixtures yourself

  • Choosing prefabricated fixtures, like cabinets, over custom ones

  • Choosing a budget-friendly flooring option, like laminate or vinyl flooring, and add rugs where necessary
