"The written quote was misleading, ended up over $500.00 more than original quote. Over all very satisfied wiith work done. Employee that did the work was very polite and professional. The project manager was very personable and polite but needs to find a way to either write in baseline estimates on separate service costs independent of another unit being installed into the the quote or send an entirely separate service quote apart from installation quote. The quote that I received mentioned the iron filter service so I was led to believe it was included with the water softener installation. A misunderstanding but easily avoidable. I would still recommend this company based on the quality of the their work."

"I had two plumbers out prior to Vincent Plumbing, for over $400 of charges. Neither of the other plumbers found a solution to my problem of a sump pump filled with dirty and sewage smelling water. The first plumber cleaned out the tank, but had no idea where the sewage was coming from. Another plumber said the odor was sewer smell from a trap that had gotten air or was radon! A home inspector said it couldn't happen! It has taken me THREE MONTHS to resolve this problem. Vincent Plumbing came out and determined a camera was need to diagnose where the dirty water was coming from. They returned and ran the camera, said it didn't smell like sewer. He determined our drain tile had holes in the pipe, food was leaking out and decaying. The water from the sink would flow down and fill up from around our pump. The rotting food and water make our house wreak! Jeff's nose was amazing. They came out and again put the camera down to ensure location of the leaks. They opened the floor and Jeff showed me what he had found. When he went to remove the pipe, it disintegrated. It ended up being even worse than anticipated. The cast iron pipe was completely rotted. Jeff and Dakota opened the basement floor and removed all the rotted pipe. They replaced it with good pipe and repaired the floor. The next day they came back and cleaned up the basement flooring. The only negative I can provide is from my husband's view. He tried to reach them a couple of times, and got the answering machine. He did not leave a message, but it bothered him that calls went to an answering machine. I only once had that occur, and my call was promptly returned. It was a pleasure to do business with them. I will surely use Vincent Plumbing again without any hesitation. They are very good and professional and really take time to explain what they will do. Their estimate was the same as their charge. They did an excellent job and cleaned up well."

"On Wednesday morning I woke up to water in my basement due to a leaky gauge. I called Agua Well and Pump and they told me they could try to get out that day but for sure the next day. The woman that answered the phone gave me her cell phone number so I could forward a video of the problem. About 4 hours later, I received a call that they would be at my house in 5 - 10 minutes. I left work and by the time I got home, they were there. The service technician, Chad explained everything to me and gave me his recommendation to replace the pressure tank due to the gauge leaking and the age of my tank. I went back to work and the job was completed by the time I got done for the day. Excellent communication and customer service!"

"Called up Mike in the afternoon regarding my leaking well pressure tank and he couldn't have been nicer or more accomodating!  He was able to make it out bright and early the very next morning to replace everything.  Mike and his son were very professional and courteous.  Explained everything in laymans terms. Very timely and were able to finish everything in an hours time.  Cleaned up everything, with nary a trace that they had been here.  Will definitely use in future for any of our well needs. Highly recommend!!"

"Each job was done professionally. The tub faucet was over 25 years old and he knew where to go to get the replacement parts to get it fixed. He really knows what he's doing. The water heater he picked out for us is top of the line. We are very grateful for the fine service we got."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

The most accurate way to determine whether you have hard water is to purchase a water test kit from a hardware store or send a tap water sample to a lab. But there are some signs you can look out for without professional testing. For instance, if you're consistently dealing with mineral stains on your glassware, windows, and shower doors, you're likely to have hard water. Hard water can also make it harder to lather and rinse soap, so if you're struggling to work up a good lather in the shower, hard water might be the culprit.

It’s not a good idea to oversize your water softener. Doing so will mean the tank doesn’t get full, which can lead to channeling. This leads to a large portion of the resin beads not being utilized and the beads at the bottom of the tank being overused. Over time, this will reduce the efficiency of your system, not to mention that the upfront cost of an oversized softener is unnecessarily high. If you have a timed regeneration cycle rather than a demand-based one, you’ll also spend far more on replacing salt than you need to.

Water softeners have many benefits. The most important one is converting previously hard water—water with too many minerals—to more usable, easier water. When we say easier water, we mean water that’s easier to digest, less harsh on skin and clothes, and builds up less in the water system. Softer water may lead to lower energy costs and will extend the lifespan of all appliances that use water.

You can install a water softener system by turning off the water supply, draining the water, and then connecting your device to the waterline. Next, you’ll fill your tank with the recommended amount of salt or brine (whichever your unit calls for; be sure to read the instructions). Turn the water supply on and check for leaks. You can opt to let your water run for a few minutes, then test it using strips.

The process of inspecting your water softener system is similar.

Generally, it is safe to bathe in yellow water, as the color is often caused by iron, tannins, or rust, which won't harm your skin. Soap will still clean you effectively, though the water might leave stains. However, if the water has an unusual smell or you suspect contamination, avoid bathing and contact a plumber for an inspection. A professional can also help if you find bathing in yellow water problematic and want to determine how to get your water clear again.
