"Great service! They are responsive, communicate well, and do great work. They fixed the wrinkles in my liner and reconnected some areas of the liner that were falling. They even fixed my pool light in the deep end that several pool companies said couldn't be repaired! I've been a pool owner since 2008 and have struggled to find a good pool company in the area. I finally found them! So grateful to finally have a competent and service-oriented company to support my pool needs."

"Two "Gentlemen" came to do our job. They were prompt, courteous and neat. They hung a dining room fixture and bedroom ceiling fan...both 16 feet ceilings! Job well done, could not be more pleased."

"Kris and Kyle took care of my pool this summer and did a really solid job. They showed up consistently, kept the water clear, and made sure everything was running right. The pool looked good all season and I didn?t have to stress about it. Would definitely use them again."

"Our liner was pretty old and kept tearing. So we finally needed a replacement. I found another company I went with before this one and they kept not showing up, having excuses why they didn?t show up etc. so I had to look again and Dee was so friendly and helpful and answered all my questions! Found this company, they replaced my pool liner beautifully!!! Will definitely use them again when I close my pool for the season!!!"

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

"I called on a Thursday looking to schedule their soonest availability for a pool cleaning and they came out the very next day and took care of everything for a very reasonable price. Highly recommend and will use in the future!"

Pool and Spa Servicing questions, answered by experts

For a fully-foamed hot tub, freezing typically occurs when the temperature drops below 28 degrees Fahrenheit and remains at or below this level continuously for a minimum of 36 hours. If your hot tub and pumps are still operational, however, the water circulates, and this continuous movement helps prevent freezing, even in very cold conditions. This circulation, along with the insulation provided by the foam, helps maintain the water temperature and prevent it from freezing during extended cold periods. Still, if you’re not planning to run it regularly, be sure to winterize the hot tub properly to prevent damage from freezing.

Generally, it is more cost-effective and energy-efficient to leave your hot tub on all the time rather than turning it on and off. Reheating a hot tub from a cold temperature consumes a significant amount of energy, so maintaining a constant temperature is usually more economical, especially with frequent use.

For daily or weekly use, it's recommended to keep the water at a constant, reduced temperature, such as between 80 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit, and then increase it to your desired temperature before getting in. If you know you won't be using the hot tub for an extended period, you can lower the temperature to save on energy costs. However, if you use it very infrequently, you can turn it off completely, as long as there is no risk of the water freezing.

Hot tub maintenance can cost between $500 and $1,000 annually. These costs typically cover deep cleaning the tub, refilling it several times a year, and maintaining the water's chemical balance. While you can perform maintenance yourself, a professional can clean and treat your hot tub with chemicals to save you time. The biggest expenses are often heating and repairs, but regular maintenance can help you avoid more complicated and costly repairs and preserve your investment.

If you want to have a chemical-free spa, or if you are wondering how to keep your hot tub clean naturally, there are several options. Some individuals choose to run their hot tub without treatment at all and simply clean it more often (although you risk bacteria, fungi, and algae growth if you take this route); others use natural products like vinegar or Borax. Ozone, ultraviolet light, and electrolysis systems are also eco-friendly ways to have a clean hot tub without chemicals. Saltwater hot tubs are popular with people who are sensitive to chlorine, bromine, and other traditional hot tub chemicals.

Vinegar can be used as an all-purpose cleaner for many things, including hot tub filters. Soaking hot tub filters in vinegar and water for up to 24 hours can remove dirt and oil, and as a bonus, it won’t cause the water to foam after you reinstall it if there’s vinegar left on it. But make sure you still rinse it to remove any debris, dirt, or grime stuck on it.
