"Alpha Contractors did an amazing job on our exterior house painting. We had several bids and we eventually decided on hiring Alpha Contractors mainly due to Juan who was very helpful in explaining the process and the communication was excellent with almost instant replies when we had further questions through emails and voicemails. Jay and Juan dropped by during the 3 day process and related the current progress to us. When the job was done the house looked fantastic. Jay and Juan took me for a final run through to check the quality of the work. When we noticed even the slightest need for some touch ups they got on it right then and there, there was even a point when Juan noticed a piece of the gutter which needed a bit of touch up that I didnt even noticed until he pointed it out. The crew was very professional, paid great attention to details and they made sure everything looked great before marking the job off as complete."

"Jesus with Evergreen LLC was great. If I could give them a 10 I would. Always got back to me immediately if I had a question. Always on time and worked hard and late. His crew is very good and respectful. We had a shake roof he took off and we replaced with Pabco Premier. It looks great. I highly recommend this company for replacing roofing. You won’t be sorry hiring Evergreen. I am quite skeptical when it comes to contractors I explained this to Jesus And he understood my concerns. He texted me his license number and his insurance policy which in turn I called the insurance to make sure he was still An active client and paid up to date which they assured me he was. We even went so far as to take a picture of his drivers license which we deleted when finished with the job and a picture of his vehicle and the license on his vehicle as you can see I’m a little OCD. Again if your looking to have your roof replaced this is the company to call."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Whether to brush or roll stain on wood depends on the project and your preference. Brushing is ideal for smaller, intricate areas and offers more control over the application, ensuring thorough coverage and penetration into the wood's grain.

Conversely, rolling is efficient for more extensive, flat surfaces and can save time. However, it is not always the best fit for textured or uneven wood. Some projects may benefit from combining both methods, using a brush for detail work and a roller for broader areas. Ultimately, the choice between brushing and rolling depends on the specific requirements of your staining project.

Yes, it is important to wash your deck before painting to ensure the paint applies well and adheres properly. While you don't have to use a pressure washer, it is one of the most efficient cleaning methods. Pressure washing can quickly remove dirt, wood fibers, and flaked paint, getting deeper into the wood than manual scrubbing. You can also clean the deck with a stiff broom and a cleaning solution. Regardless of the method, a clean surface is essential for good paint adhesion. Make sure the deck is completely dry before applying any paint.

You can apply stain over peeling stain, but it’s not a good idea. Your old stain will get in the way of your new stain bonding to the wood, so you’re likely going to see the same issue again shortly after application. Your best option is to sand off the old stain and clean the surface thoroughly before applying new stain.

The opposite is actually true: Wood stains tend to appear lighter when they’re fully dry. However, stains may darken as they weather and oxidize with age. Stains might also darken on surfaces left in direct sunlight, as UV rays can break down pigment particles and cause them to darken over time.

Whether you can paint over your existing paint depends on what’s on there. Most of the time, you’ll want to sand down or scrape off the paint that’s currently coating your surface. Epoxy paint, for example, won’t let new paint stick to the surface. Latex paint is more forgiving and will accept a new coat, but a primer is recommended if you’re switching colors.
