"We initially contacted Attila Musci at Cascade Window and Glass about replacing the glass in the slider window (both movable and stationary parts) above our kitchen sink in early December 2015. This was being done because we were remodeling our kitchen, i.e. replacing countertops and flooring. Based on our approximate measurements we received a quote and decided to go ahead with the project. While meeting with the tech designer for our kitchen remodel we discovered that once the new countertops were in place we would not be able to remove the kitchen window, so the window repair would need to be done before the countertop installation. This didn't seem to be a problem because we were told that the project probably wouldn't start for several months. When we found out that the project would begin much sooner than expected (to our delight!) , i.e. in the middle of January, we needed to move up the appointment date for Attila to measure the windows. When he came out he discovered that he couldn't remove the windows with the existing faucet in place, so we needed to coordinate the removal of the window glass with the demolition crew removing the old countertops and kitchen fixtures. After many phone calls everything was approved, and the date and time were set for Attila to remove the old window glass, put the new glass in the existing frames, and reinstall the windows -- with a very quick turn-around so as not to delay the demolition crew. Attila was great to work with -- he was willing to change and adapt his schedule as needed to accommodate the timeline for our kitchen remodel. He is very professional and really knows his business. This is the second time that we've worked with him, and will continue to do so as the need arises."

"We have been in our home for 30 years and our master bath was the last bath that needed to be upgraded.   We found First Choice Tile and Grout on Angie's List.   They had excellent reviews and most of the work they had done was similar to what we were planning.   We can't say enough good things about Adrian and his work.   Although his was not the lowest estimate we received, we were impressed with his quick response and answers to our questions and along with the excellent reviews led to selecting them.  We were not disappointed.  Once the work was scheduled, Adrian came over to review the job again and gave us some great advice on tile and things to think about that hadn't occurred to us.  Once the job started, he called every morning prior to arriving and let us know what was going to be done that day.  When Adrian and his crew arrived, they laid tarps down for protection of the floors and got to work.   They were a joy to have around and at the end of each day cleaned up.
During the process Adrian did a great job asking for our input and making sure his and our questions were answered.   If anything unexpected came up he checked with us and let us know what needed to be done.  He recommended a glass contractor for us to work with that removed a large wall mirror and then provided and installed a shower door.   That was Seattle Glass Pro and Dan did a great job too.
The finished job is great and we are extremely happy with how the shower and floor turned out.   It was a great experience working with Adrian and First Choice Tile and Grout.   We highly recommend them and would not hesitate to use them in the future of additional work

"We hired David to patch a section of our ceiling and to also prep and texture the new drywall in our bathroom remodel. They showed up on time, did an excellent job, and were priced competitively. We would certainly hire them again."

I initially contacted MS Railing through Angie's List and Serge was quick to respond. Because Serge needed more details we continued to communicate through texting so I could send him pics of the studs in the wall so he would know it would hold the heavy glass door. I was told (by several glass companies) that they wouldn't come out to measure until the tile was installed. However, Serge did give me a rough estm via text just so we'd have an idea of the cost. As soon as the tile was installed I texted Serge about coming out to measure to give us a solid quote. He came out the very next day and was punctual! We also got other estm for the glass from companies off of AL as well. What set MS Railing apart from the rest was the respect that Serge gave by taking off his shoes when he came into our house, MS Railing also had the lowest price and the quickest install turn around time (a week and a couple of days) compared to the other estms we received (3 weeks). The actual estm Serge gave us before he left was even lower than his rough estm he sent me via text! Since we were still waiting on a company to send us their quote, just to make sure, so we waited to let Serge know we wanted to go with his company to install the glass. When we finally got the other quote it was much higher so, I texted Serge to let him know (that was on a Fri evening), I was concerned maybe we should've waited until Mon morning to tell him. However, he did respond right away even though it was after hours. That following Tues I texted Serge to see about our order. I didn't need to worry b/c Serge had remembered and in fact on Weds he texted me to say the glass was ready!! They also had available an apt for 10 am apt spot the next day or I'd have to wait until the following Mon. I chose the 10 am appt.! The guys showed up on time, installed the glass within the hour and cleaned up! We have not used the shower yet as we are still adding some new fixtures and all to the bathroom but we love the look of the doors! We did pay extra for the glass stain protection that was applied to the glass before it was installed. The protection last 5 yrs and the price that was quoted was well below the other companies and worth the extra cost to us. A clear "plastic" strip was attached to the bottom of the shower door to help keep any water from coming out. I was told we could take it off but you can't really even see it plus it's nice to have the extra protection against any potential water that may get splashed onto the door and out onto the floor. Again we are super happy with the service that MS Railing provided and the glass looks wonderful!

"Todd is really easy to work with. He worked around our schedule. While doing the work our house stayed very clean and each time we came home it was essentially as if they were never there. The tile guy took 12 x 12 marble tile and cut, honed, and polished it into our specified dimensions. Todd also was able to creatively work around a few of our house's quirks. He does not have a plumber that he works with so we did have to get our own plumber which ended up costing us quite a bit. Overall, a painless kitchen redo for a reasonable price and fantastic results!"

"Last fall, we faced a big challenge in our 1962 home – how to remodel both our bathrooms. Seventeen years ago, we used Kitchen Plus for a major expansion and remodel of our kitchen that resulted in a stunning and effective space (which we still get compliments on today!). So, we decided to turn to Kitchen Plus for our current bathroom remodel projects. Amazingly, the same designer we used for our kitchen is still on staff. We enjoyed working with David Pausau for the kitchen and were happy to leverage his insightful approach for the bathrooms. We are now several weeks into the first bathroom’s remodel and can’t be more excited about how the project is going. This bathroom has numerous design and engineering challenges. Our Kitchen Plus project manager, Jeremy Alcantara, is outstanding. We’ve done many remodel projects in our home over the last 28 years and we’ve never worked with such a professional project manager. He is effectively managing the timeline and all the specialists who have part of the project. It’s like a ballet! Jeremy's own contributions in the construction are extremely high quality. He demonstrates professionalism in every aspect, and we appreciate the respect he shows for the project, the materials and our home. He is a great communicator and very dependable. Most importantly for our difficult bathroom, he is a great problem solver! He has an eye for design and engineering, and we’ve learned for every challenge uncovered he comes with solutions for consideration and collaboration in decision making. We can’t wait to see the final bathroom, and to get started on the next! Update: Both bathrooms are now complete – and gorgeous! The first word anyone says who sees them is “wow” (especially those who know what we started with!). On time, on budget – and with great quality. We are delighted with the final bathrooms. We have great respect for Jeremy, our project manager. Not only were his contributions to the bathrooms excellent, but he also managed all the specialists – sheetrock, tile, plumbing, electrical, and more. He ensured all aspects of the project where of high quality, both in passing inspections and also beauty and functionality. Kitchens Plus did a great job for us, and we highly commend Jeremy as the project manager."

"I was worked into a Friday schedule between 1:00pm and 3:00pm. I was informed in the morning that the customer before me (in Bellevue, WA) was running late and my time may move out 1 - 2 hours. I was not thrilled but this happens.Thirty minutes later I received a call that the installer was leaving the late customers location and was proceeding to my location and will replace my windshield first (in Snohomish, WA) . They traveled the 30+ miles to me to get this done in a quick, efficient and first class way. A great job communication and customer satisfaction. I will recommend them from this point forward.

Glass Block Windows questions, answered by experts

Glass block windows aren’t fire hazards; fire-rated glass block windows can increase your home’s fire safety. Modern glass blocks are made with materials that can resist high temperatures and prevent fire spread. Most offer a 45-minute fire rating, while some increase it to two hours. Compared to the typical 20 to 90 minute rating for a double-pane window, glass block can increase your home’s safety in the event of a fire.

Luckily, glass block windows need minimal maintenance. Other than regular cleaning, the only maintenance involved in having a glass block window is inspecting for cracks every year and applying sealer to the mortar joints if the blocks are set in masonry mortar. Glass block windows hold up well against wind and moisture better than traditional windows and are not prone to rot.

Heavy glass tends to be more expensive than thin glass because it is stronger and more durable. In most cases, ¼-inch-thick glass is ideal for mirrors, and ⅛-inch-thick glass is ideal for residential windows. Heavier glass isn’t always necessary, and can be more challenging to hang or install. Work with a local window installation pro for replacement or new construction windows.

Glass block installation can be relatively expensive due to the range of material costs and the labor time to assemble this type of specialty window. The process proceeds slowly as the glass does not absorb moisture from mortar and silicone caulk takes longer to harden, leaving spacers to hold up the structure until the caulk or mortar begins to cure. Plus, if your current windows have structural issues or damage, you’ll need to repair them before beginning the project, increasing your bottom line.

You can still see vaguely into some types of glass block windows at night. Although there won’t be clear definitions, passersby may still see shapes, shadows, and movement through the glass. If you want complete privacy, consider installing diamond glass block windows rather than the typical clear or wavy glass blocks.
