"N&R Construction have done a great job on both of our projects.  We have referred them to other clients who have also been very pleased.  They are inexpensive, honest, hard-working, fast and reliable.  They gave us fixed bids on both projects.  Bids on garage were 25% less than competivitve bids.  We believe that we saved a similar amount on the 3rd floor addition.  They can charge less because they work fast and have low overhead.  Both projects were completed faster then we expected and exactly on budget.  Communication was good and frequent.  My wife felt safe having them around the house during the day while she was at home.  Very nice workers.

We feel so lucky to have found these guys."

"Renovate was excellent from start to finish. They efficiently removed an old carport, deck and storage room, and with expertise installed new siding and windows on the side of the house. The crew was professional throughout the project."

"We live in North end and the crew had to drive up from Puyallup everyday. I don't know how they did it with awful Seattle traffic, but they arrived on time every day. It even snowed one day quite a bit and we expected them to not show - but there they were! On time! I don't know if we just got a superior crew: Anthony (foreman), Mike, Kai, and Jim - but they worked together so efficiently it was really a pleasure to watch. A lot of heavy metal rods had to be drilled into the foundation. It took days of hard labor to lug all of the hardware underneath the house and drill it all in place. All the while, Anthony kept us informed of the progress, obstacles and solutions as they came up. His crew consisted of really knowledgeable well- trained guys. These weren't just workers performing tasks. Not at all. They are trained professionals and they have great attitudes and obvious pride in their work. After all the piers and jacks were installed, the house was lifted on the 6th day. On that day, three more men joined the crew and manned different areas of the house; below, around the outside and inside of the house. The lift was done very carefully, slowly and successfully and supervised by one of Ram Jack West's specialists, Ken who communicated to the crew under the house, while they lifted it in increments. It was an experience to behold. We now have a level and secure home and a lifetime guarantee that Ram Jack West's work will last. We will miss seeing the crew and wish them well in all their future endeavors!"

"It went very well. Greg was a great guy. In the initial consultation we missed a wall that also needed a drain due to the crawl space, and his lovely crew came back and made it right. Greg was also always available to answer my many questions and made sure I was completely comfortable in the work. This is the first time I have had a dry basement as long as I have owned the house! I cant recommend highly enough."

Customers say: Terrific value

"New Home Solutions is a Design+build firm and since we were unsure of the choices we needed to make for our kitchen remodel, we engaged New Home Solutions' design services. Marybeth was handling the design aspects and she did an excellent job with her recommendations. She helped us pick out our counter-tops, our back-splash tile, figure out our cabinet layout. She also worked with multiple vendors to give us an detailed breakdown of the estimates. She was responsive on email and made multiple store/home visits to ensure she understood and translated our needs to the estimate. Unfortunately due to vacation timing, we couldn't proceed with New Home Solutions' Build eventhough we were happy with the designs and the final estimate. Would totally recommend Marybeth's services."

"My husband and I wanted to replace an old deck and flagstone walkway at the front of our house with a stained concrete porch. DC Builders were able to do the job within budget and within our time line. We had some structural issues going into the job that I was nervous about, but Joey solved the problems. I am very critical of bad craftsmanship, and I am seldom completely pleased with work we have had done in the past, but Joey and his team came in and did a remarkable job. They were there when they agreed to be and were very respectful to both me and my property. Joey kept me updated at all times. I am extremely happy with the new porch. It's beautiful!"

House Leveling questions, answered by experts

Polyjacking and mudjacking can both be effective solutions for sinking concrete, but they have key differences. Polyjacking, which uses expanding polyurethane foam, is often considered a better option because the foam is significantly lighter than the cementitious material used for mudjacking. This reduced weight puts less pressure on the underlying soil and lowers the risk of future sinking. Polyjacking is suitable for any sinking concrete slab, while mudjacking is typically only recommended for non-structural concrete, such as sidewalks, patios, pool decks, and driveways. The primary drawback of polyjacking is its cost, which can be up to four times higher than mudjacking—as much as $25 per square foot compared to a maximum of about $6 per square foot for mudjacking.

Mudjacking is suitable for sidewalks, driveways, patios, and nearly all exterior flat structures. However, it may not suit severely damaged or heavily cracked areas.

Mudjacking typically takes 24 to 72 hours (one to three days) to dry and cure completely before you can resume normal use. The exact time can vary depending on the size of the project. Because the slurry mixture contains cement, it must fully harden to ensure that added weight from walking, furniture, or vehicles won't shift the concrete slab. A professional contractor can advise you on when the surface is safe to use. For comparison, if you use polyjacking instead, the polyurethane foam can dry in just a few minutes, but it's best to wait about an hour before use.

Generally speaking, push piers—or steel piers—are the best option for underpinning, as they reach down to solid bedrock to find support for your foundation rather than relying on soil, which could be subject to the same issues as the soil directly below your foundation. However, the best underpinning method for your home depends on your location, how far down the bedrock is, and the type of soil in your area. Helical piers are usually the best option for sandy soil or in areas where the bedrock is too deep to use steel piers.

Most states and municipalities don’t require concrete mudjacking companies to carry a specific license, but they usually need to have a general contractor’s license, and they should be fully insured. The only exception is if the mudjacking company provides foundation repairs as well, or if it offers mudjacking for home foundations. In that case, they will typically need a foundation repair contractor’s license. You can check state requirements and then use Angi’s license lookup tool to confirm that a company is properly licensed to provide mudjacking services in your area.
