"Received 4 quotes. Cummings was the least expensive that I used to bargain two others to. They matched but had install dates of 30 days. Cummings had their electricians and HVAC guys here in 8 days. Installation done in 4 hours. All had good customer service & tech skills."

"Family moved to Lakewood, Wa from New York and noticed the next door neighbor utilized Hunt's and was in shock - the go to for plumbing, heating/cooling, electric, and drain/sewer-that's sweet. No need to call different people for various things and Hunt's became the Go-To. Called Ashley and Christine to make appointments and they were ever so nice and pleasant making the entire experience from the start as sweet as can be. Bought a sink from Home Depot and Hunt's was first to call and respond to request to install a sink. Hunt's sent out Tristan and Alfredo to install the sink and I almost dropped to the floor when they told me the price to install the new one and take out the old one-very inexpensive. Tristan and Alfredo removed the old sink and put in the new one, tested everything out and made sure everything was good before leaving. Called them for estimates for electric and they converted a regular light bulb to LED for two outside lights so the house shines at night. 5 stars for that! Met Dennis - transparent, direct, tells you what you need and technicians Sean and Chris came out to replace the furnace that served it's 44 year old time. Dennis made things happen and told us they can install the new furnace the next day. We were happy but stayed in a hotel for the night since it was too cold for my senior citizen parents to stay in the frigid house. Dennis communicated to me they could not make it on appointment day and were able to make it out the next day. One of the awesome technicians named Sean said, "Dennis told me you had to stay in a hotel so no point in waiting until Saturday let's get it done now". I appreciate the fact everyone here at Hunt's has a heart and can put themselves in the "shoes of the customer" and proceed. Sean and Chris came out to the house the next day after picking up the furnace arriving at said time and worked tirelessly from 11 am to late evening at around 8pm taking out the old furnace and installing the new one. Hours later, the house is heating up stronger and more efficiently. Thank You Hunt's for consistently super service. Hunt's has great honest customer service oriented hardworking individuals and Ive seen that consistently. Thank You Hunt's you have earned our business and loyalty for the long haul!"

"We have recently started using Harts for all of our plumbing needs and have been very pleased with the work and professionalism! The guys are all extremely courteous, communicative, and respectful and we trust them to be in our home. Matthew came out to address a smell coming from our sump pump and identified that the lid needed to be replaced. Easy fix. While he was there he checked the pump to ensure it was operating properly and assured me that everything else looked good. He said he would promptly fix the issue and gave me his card in the event I had any further questions. We signed up for their annual maintenance plan and we love being able to call them for any concerns we have, at no charge, and with priority scheduling! We have cancelled our home service warranty now that we have the Harts plan, as they cover plumbing, electrical, and will soon have HVAC services. Yes, I know that their prices might be a tad higher than others (although our jobs have been in line with other quotes) but it pays for their extensive training, warranty, knowledge, and great and responsive customer service. You get what you pay for and we are at the point in our life where we are ready to pay for quality and peace of mind."

"You wont find a better HVAC guy anywhere. He is knowledgeable, understanding, and makes sure his customers get what they want and need. I appreciate that he takes the time to give people options. He installed a heat pump for my mother and was kind enough to make sure she knew how to operate it. He even taught her how to take care of the filters, and offered to schedule a maintenance to make sure it stayed in good working order. This is a company that will show up on a weekend or after hours on a no heat call to take care of his customers. Alex is amazing."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

If possible, avoid placing furniture in front of a return air vent. A blocked air vent can cause your HVAC system to use more energy, which in turn can lower the life span of your unit and raise your energy bill. Furniture can also trap hot or cold air, damaging your furniture or appliances.

Professional duct installers suggest leaving between six and 12 inches of space in front of an air return vent. If you must place furniture in front of a return air vent, try to aim for putting furniture over a floor vent instead of in front of a wall vent, and avoid draping curtains over any vent system.

No, it isn’t necessarily bad to turn your AC on and off frequently—contrary to popular belief. Even if you stop and start your AC throughout the day, it won’t use as much energy as it would if you ran it nonstop.

If you’re concerned about your power consumption and energy costs, there are a few simple ways to use your AC more efficiently. Regularly cleaning the filters, scheduling routine maintenance, and using a programmable thermostat are all great choices.

Some AC filters, known as reusable filters, can be cleaned and reinserted. Most AC filters, however, are disposable and cannot be cleaned.

A common HVAC rule is that for every 500 to 600 square feet of living space, you need 1 ton of heating or cooling capacity. Now that you know this common rule, you also need to know that it isn’t very accurate, and a dedicated pro wouldn’t use it for your home. If you talk to a pro who won’t or can’t perform a proper Manual J calculation, consider hiring someone more thorough.

Capacitors are the most frequent part of an HVAC system to experience failure. These components are crucial for starting the motors that power the fans and compressor, but over time, they may become worn or fail due to electrical surges or regular wear and tear. When capacitors malfunction, HVAC systems may experience decreased heating or cooling efficiency, or even total system failure. Replacement or maintenance of capacitors is a common requirement for the optimal functioning of HVAC systems.
