"David, the company's owner, was amazing. Extremely responsive, professional, and friendly. Delivered 110% on the promises related to his bid. He just did the work today, and I already referred him to my son who is considering some electrical work at his place."

We are a small 4-5 man Commerial and Residential electrical contracting, Sales, Design and Service electrical shop . We are very highly trained and skilled in Troubleshooting, diagnosing, electrical design, Industrial experience , Computer , Home theater, Low voltage, and specialty custom wiring. We also have Generac Generator Certified standby generator technicians employed. We are Panel upgrade experts and are very well rounded in our industry.

"The work itself was standard. The issue was that I had asked the owner of Bell Electric on 2 separate occasions if anything would need to be done by me or the power company in regards to temporary shutting off service so the electricians could work. I was informed by the owner John Bell that the electric company did not need to do anything. Bell electric then had their own electricians disconnect the service lines from the power pole to my house, instead of calling the power company to do it properly and correctly. Turns out, the power compay is the only one who can disconnect the wires from a power pole to a house, and not an electric company. This resulted in a $400 fine I am now in dispute with the electric company over Bell electric, whom stated they have upgraded many service panels in the Puget sound areas. Why would they not then inform me the power company would need to do the disconnect/reconnect? The power company informed me that the electricians from bell electric knew better, have done panel upgrades before and hand the power company disconnect the lines, and should have called the power company before touching anything. You would think that these issues would not arise with a company whom does this business regularly. I really feel this contractor did not care about standards and only wanted to be paid for work asap. I heard more then 3 times from various employees that times were tough, the employees of bell electric were broke, etc. The workers who came to complete the panel upgrade talked about the boss needing to charge more for jobs and stop trying to save every little piece of material from every job. They must not like his penny pinching. The work is par, nothing good, nothing too bad, but I would not recommend this service to anyone. Very unprofessional experience. Too costly and way too much hassle only to deal with a company whose work results in extra fines."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

If only half of your string of Christmas lights is out, it likely means that you have a broken or loose bulb somewhere along the strand. That’s why we suggest inspecting and testing each bulb to ensure it’s still tight and functioning properly. Luckily, this problem is quickly solved with a DIY fix, such as replacing the bad bulb or repairing a damaged shunt.

The hot wire is typically black, but it's essential to use a non-contact voltage tester to confirm the electrical wire color code before working on it. Neutral wires are typically white. It’s vital to determine which wire is carrying electrical current before proceeding with any electrical work.

The easiest and best way to power your outdoor lights is with the use of outdoor outlets. Most building codes now require exterior outlets in homes, so you likely already have outdoor outlets available to plug into. However, you can have these outlets installed if your space doesn’t currently include them.

Often, you can add extra breakers to an electrical panel. A new breaker can help with new appliance needs, and it’s a common solution when finishing an attic or basement. However, adding extra breakers can’t bring in more amps to your house, so you still need enough amp service to power everything in total.

No. Do not use a 14-gauge wire on a 20-amp outlet. A certified licensed electrician would know that the National Electrical Code (as per Section 240.4(D) subsection 3) requires 14-gauge wires to be used with a maximum amplitude of 15. Therefore, you should only use 12-gauge wires on 20-amp outlets.
