"Raman did a great job. Called ahead to let me know he was on his way. Arrived on time. Snaked the drain and cleared the greasy clog in about 20-30 mins. All in all, a good experience."

"Devon was fantastic. He called ahead to try and make sure he could come with the right parts. He fixed a leaky faucet, sink drain and toilet. Also replaced an Instahot tank and moved around the filter to give us more space. Super nice guy and also showed us some helpful things while he was here (we had no idea where the house shutoff was). Cost was quite reasonable - a bit over $500. Would definitely recommend!"

"I went to Mad Pipers for a second opinion after getting a vague and uninformed assessment of my drain issues from a different company. Ragen and Zach not only took the time to figure out the extent of the problem, but they made sure I understood and knew what my options were, without pressuring me to hire them. I respected both their attention to detail and integrity so decided to hire them for the job. Rather than replace the entire drain system as recommended by another company, they discovered the problem areas where roots were growing into the pipes and were able to replace just the necessary sections effectively and efficiently. This included excavating and trenching the line from a tiny crawl space, redirecting the line to a much more practical location outside the house, adding gravel around the new pipe, reconnecting the line to the unaffected section, and complete and tidy cleanup of my yard, all in two days. I have complete faith in these guys and would definitely hire them again for any future plumbing needs."

"We had a smell coming from our shower drain and were concerned it could be something terrible. He assured us it just needed a quick cleanout and showed us how to install a better plug in the cleanout. He did a quick cleanout and didn't charge us anything. We would definitely use them in the future if we ever have any sewer or drain issues. Very professional and courteous."

"I had a clogged drain that no amount of plunging could get rid of. I called several companies. I initially went with Mr Rooter because they were the only ones that could make it out that same day. Glad I did. The technician was very pleasant and he took his time to explain all the steps he was doing and let me watch as he put a camera down the drain and showed me on the screen where the clog was and all the build-up in the pipes. He then brought in a high pressure washer and I watched on the screen as he cleaned the pipes all the way down to where it joined up with the main sewer line. I initally thought the estimate was a little high, but not after watching all that they (his supervisor also showed up after an hour to help out) did."

"We will be using Schmitty's Plumbing for all of our plumbing work from now on! We were able to get an appointment quickly, and Brian was on-time, pleasant, and professional. He was clear upfront about costs and options, explained the work that was needed, and quickly made the needed repairs at a reasonable cost. Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

You should not attempt to snake your sewer yourself. Accessing and snaking your sewer requires heavy-duty equipment, and while renting is possible, misusing it can damage your sewer main and leave you with very expensive repair costs, not to mention potential environmental issues and severe water damage. Accessing your sewer also exposes you to hazardous sewer gasses, and failing to seal the sewer properly after work can be very dangerous. It’s always best to hire a professional sewer cleaner near you to handle this type of work.

The first rule of plumbing is nothing but water, toilet paper, number one, and number two go down the drain.

To prevent clogs, get yourself:

  • A compast pail where you can clean plates, drain grease, and toss scraps and paper towels.

  • Drain screens for the shower, tub, and bathroom sink to stop hair, jewelry, toys, etc. from going down the drain.

  • Trash cans for everything that shouldn’t go down the drain, like dental floss, hygiene products, and cat litter.

P.S.: If you do drop your priceless ring down the drain, take a deep breath, and then follow these steps to retrieve jewelry from your drain.

Yes, pop-up drains commonly get clogged with hair, soap scum, and toothpaste. It is important to know how to properly clean the drain or get professional help to ensure it remains clear and can drain water effectively.

Your sewer line can get grimy quickly. To prevent sludge buildup in your sewer line, pour a mixture of 1/3 cup of vinegar and 1/3 cup of baking soda down each drain in your home once a month. After about 30 minutes, flush the drain with hot water.

Some plumbers recommend 3/4 cup of bleach instead to clean any germs and bacteria that may build up in your sewer line. But this won’t break down any active clogs, and it cannot be combined with vinegar, as the mixture will create a toxic, hazardous gas.

A saturated leach field can result from various underlying issues, so it's best to call a professional septic company to diagnose and treat the problem. Depending on the cause of the saturation, potential fixes include pumping out a full septic tank, adding more bacteria to the tank, or regrading the soil to fix low spots. It may also be necessary to reroute rainwater and runoff away from the leach field using gutters, downspouts, and extenders. Once the primary issue is resolved, planting specific types of vegetation over the area can help absorb excess water. In more severe cases, you might need to install a larger septic tank or replace the leach field entirely.
