He took the time to get a replacement railing because. “ he didn’t want to have his name on a job done with poor quality materials. He completed the job in a very timely manner. "Once again, thoroughly pleased with their work. Had a bad windstorm that knocked down a portion of our fence. William had someone out the same day and now our fence is like new! Fast service and great rates! Highly recommend!"

"Brian and his crew are very friendly and professional. They were able to squeeze my fence install project into their tight schedule so that I could get my new dog boarding business up and running quickly. When a wrong part came in Brian went above and beyond to get my fence completed by working late and on his day off. Brian always called to inform me of my fencing status. I highly, highly, highly, recommend Brian and his excellent crew!"

"I agree with the other five-star reviews. Luis worked with us through the design process to design exactly what we wanted in a garden fence. Luis and his crew then built the fence to our utmost satisfaction. All the work was done very timely and professionally. Luis had a skilled crew and all the equipment necessary. Our garden property was very uneven, but they managed to make a very straight fence (and a gate with canopy) that looks great. We are thrilled with the final product! Luis was right on top of everything from start to finish, and we enjoyed working with him and his professionals."

Wrought Iron questions, answered by experts

Posts for a horizontal fence should be no more than 6 feet apart. Wood pickets are not as strong when mounted horizontally as when mounted vertically. As such, the fence panels on a horizontal fence can’t cover the same span between posts as a vertical fence can. If you install the posts further apart on a horizontal fence, the fence will lose stability, making the boards more likely to sag.

Clean regularly, inspect for rust, and repaint or seal to prevent corrosion.

Pictures of the area where you want your handrail installed should help get an accurate estimate. You should also let your professional know how accessible the installation location is, and whether or not there is a pre-existing railing to remove. Also, before contacting the pro, take some time to decide what type of wrought iron you are leaning toward.

Finally, have the overall length of your railing at the ready, so you can discuss prefabricated options versus custom-made options.

Whether metal fence posts need concrete depends on the environment and the ground they're placed on. For thick earth and areas without significant weather or high wind, you can get by without concrete, but in areas with weak dirt and strong seasonal weather, it's a good idea to install a concrete base on each individual post. This increases the cost but not as much as replacing or reinstalling the fence would.

A high-quality wrought iron fence is one of the most durable options available and can last a lifetime, or even centuries, with proper care. However, wrought iron is susceptible to rust and corrosion if not maintained.

To maximize its lifespan, regular maintenance is required. This includes:

  • Cleaning the fence with soapy water every six months.

  • Scrubbing away any rust or corrosion as soon as it appears.

  • Applying a new coat of paint or refinishing the fence every few years to protect the metal from moisture and oxygen. The recommended frequency varies, with sources suggesting anywhere from every 1 to 10 years.

If significant rust develops, it's wise to hire a professional fence repair company to clean the rust and reseal the fence. The cost to refinish a fence is typically between $5 and $12 per square foot, a worthwhile investment to ensure its longevity.
