"Rick at Hoover Roofing answered a multitude of questions my husband and I had. They worked with a difficult to access rooftop, our driveway is steep and the house is tall. I was amazed at how the roofing supplier was able to deliver the supplies! He coordinated the delivery and we did not have to do anything. After the old roof was removed we had a winter storm and snow. We had no leaks at all, so they must have done a great job with protecting out home. The roof and two skylights were installed after the snow had cleared. They cleaned up the job afterward, we had to wash the windows and sweep the front porch of some dirt but it was dirty before they started. Very pleased with the whole experience."

"Put in a gravel area for a carport. Did the grading to my requirements then installed ground blocker before adding gravel. Worked all day and he finished up just after dark. He cleaned up his mess and made sure everything was up to my expectations. Will have him back for more projects."

"They ended up rescheduling because of weather, which wasn't a big deal. However, I was not home when the work was completed. Since I was not there I can not say if they spent the amount of time they were supposed to, but I wasn't impressed with the amount of work done for "24 hours" .
They were not very knowledgeable about the types of plants. Several times I asked what a plant was, or an opinion of it should stay or be removed. I didn't get many answers. Now that I have been here another year, I can see that some of the things cut back shouldn't have been.
Otherwise everything is fine.

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

While removing every snowflake from your roof is unnecessary, you should remove a significant buildup of snow. Since snow is wet and heavy, it can easily cause damage to your roof, which can lead to needing costly repairs.

Additionally, when the snow melts but has nowhere to go and refreezes, it can create an ice dam, causing mold concerns due to water leaking into your attic and ceiling. For these reasons, it’s best to hire a snow removal professional to clear heavy snowfall from your roof as soon as possible.

While most people associate defrosting icy roads with salt, you can also use sugar for a similar result. Sugar lowers the freezing point of water, melting ice in a pinch.

However, sugar doesn’t melt ice as well as salt because it doesn’t separate the water molecules as efficiently. So, if you need to quickly melt a stubborn patch of ice on your driveway or walkway, it’s best to use salt over sugar for faster results.

Yes, many providers offer emergency services during severe weather. Confirm availability with your contractor.

It’s the reverse of home de-winterization. To winterize, you purge your plumbing system (including your water heater and all piping) of water. Some experts also recommend filling fixtures with an antifreeze solution. Other tasks involve winterizing sprinklers, sealing foundation vents, check weatherproofing around doors and windows, and more.

Removing snow from your roof can help prevent ice dams, but the best thing to do is address insulation issues in your attic. If you do decide to remove the snow manually, you should always use a roof rake rather than a shovel. You shouldn’t climb your snowy roof in any circumstance, and roof rake allows you to remove the snow from the ground or a ladder. For the best results, remove snow as soon as possible after it falls.
