"Called another rooter company to clean a drain in a rental unit. My husband was coordinating with the Property Manager and Rooter company. Rooter company was unsupervised with the tenant. After $1200, my husband finally caught onto the "upcharging game" they were playing and told them to stop. They then dumped a bucket of grease in the tenant's yard, which was very unprofessional. My husband called Zoom Drain, they came out and solved the problem for a flat fee and they were super professional. We will be using Zoom Drain for all our rental properties."

"I had a clogged drain that no amount of plunging could get rid of. I called several companies. I initially went with Mr Rooter because they were the only ones that could make it out that same day. Glad I did. The technician was very pleasant and he took his time to explain all the steps he was doing and let me watch as he put a camera down the drain and showed me on the screen where the clog was and all the build-up in the pipes. He then brought in a high pressure washer and I watched on the screen as he cleaned the pipes all the way down to where it joined up with the main sewer line. I initally thought the estimate was a little high, but not after watching all that they (his supervisor also showed up after an hour to help out) did."

"Developed a drain pipe leak the night before a real estate inspection was scheduled. They came out about an hour after I called and not only fixed the leak, but brought the plumbing up to code. Cleaned up afterward. Very friendly. Put up with my nosy cat who wanted to supervise the process."

"We have used Cahill Plumbing many times over the 25 years we have been in our home. They are family owned and have always provided great service at a reasonable price. This time it was for a total kitchen remodel and they did the work and it was another fine outcome."

"I called and reached David right away. He was able to come out the next day. I was very impressed with David's knowledge of lighting and decorative sense when it came to installing a very large Chandelier in a room that did not have any wiring set up for it. He came into my house and was able to asses correctly the amount of work that he would have to do barring any unforeseeable issues. What was most important for me was the need for the job to be completed in a timely manner and with as few holes in the walls as possible. I would definitely hire him again as he was very conscious of keeping the work area clean and taking everything out after the work was completed. The chandelier looked amazing and I couldn't be happier."

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Grease buildup, tree roots, and foreign objects often cause blockages. Regular maintenance prevents major issues.

Yes, pop-up drains commonly get clogged with hair, soap scum, and toothpaste. It is important to know how to properly clean the drain or get professional help to ensure it remains clear and can drain water effectively.

Yes, short hair can clog a drain. While you might be tempted to blame the long-haired people living with you for a clogged drain, hair—no matter the length—can combine with soap scum and leftover shampoo to create a perfect storm of sticky mess that can cause your drain to slow down.

A good option for opening up and cleaning a sink drain is to use a ¼ cup of baking soda and 1 cup of white vinegar, along with a rubber stopper to cover the drain while those materials work their magic. After about 15 minutes, you can flush the drain with hot water. In many cases, these materials can scrub out minor clogs and get the drain working properly again. If the issue persists, call in a plumber near you to get the problem permanently fixed.

Bleach isn’t likely to help unclog a sewer line. Bleach isn’t useful in this situation because it won’t dissolve the grime and debris in the clog. Instead, you want to use ingredients that will have a chemical reaction to clear out the buildup, like vinegar or salt and baking soda.
