"Scot replied quickly to our request for a quote on the replacement of three toilets, five faucets, and our water heater, and was a consummate professional when he arrived the next day. Honest, efficient, and very polite, he set to work right away after providing us with a folder containing his business information and a printed estimate with a cost-breakdown, the total for which came in under-budget, thus saving us money. He sourced all the parts (and included copies of the receipts with his invoice), then installed them for us, done inside of three days, with a final check on Monday when we came into work. He installed the toilets and faucets first, waiting until the weekend to replace the water heater so that he wouldn't inconvenience anyone. He also hauled away all of the old appliances after installing the new ones. We really appreciated his enthusiasm for helping us buy the right kind of replacement items and the trustworthiness he invoked with his professional and courteous manner."

"I sold my home, G&S had installed a Heat Pump and Furnace in my last home back in 2011. I purchased a mobile home in a 55 and older park. The mobile did not have a heat pump. I called G&S. They were able to get my new heat pump and furnace installed August 27. The guys were there at 8 am. Everything was completed that same day. I love G&S. Everyone you speak with are very professional, informative and keep you informed every step of the way. The Techs are super. They did an excellent job! High fives to Mike, Anthony, Patrick and the other electrician( can't remember his name). I am very happy with my new air and heating system."

"Washington Energy Services put a new water heater in our home almost 15 years ago. It was the weekend after we moved in. We were pleased with their service back then, so we called them again when our water heater leaked everywhere. They were able to come out the very next day and put our new water heater in. They took care of necessary permits and made that part so easy. They understood the urgency of our need and were kind and helpful. We would recommend them for any of their services."

"i didn't hire directly.  they came via a home insurance company referral to look at a problem.
they were solid.  liked the guy who came out.  he tried his best to get our water heater replaced by the water heater company, but ultimately they would only pay for a replacement, at which point i cut my losses and hired someone else - b/c the water heater was 19 years old and it would have been a temporary fix.

"It was fabulous. I got three quotes for heat pumps and Aire Force was both A) the least expensive and B) very very clearly, the most knowledgeable about heat pumps. They asked a lot of questions and helped me make the decision to go with the ductless. They were always on time and courteous and returned emails/phone calls quickly. I recommend them extremely highly."

Water Heaters questions, answered by experts

You can and should vent the gas from your hot water heater to the outside of your home. Traditionally, these gases were vented back to other gas appliances, like stoves or furnaces, but many jurisdictions have outlawed this practice due to the risks it provides.

Most water heaters today use atmospheric venting that exhausts the gas out of the home through a pipe.

While heat pump water heaters are more expensive than gas-powered water heaters, the ROI is higher for heat pump units. Not only are heat pump water heaters more energy efficient, meaning immediate savings on your energy bill, but they also last longer than traditional gas versions, meaning you won't have to buy them as often.

Yes, this would be an appropriate choice. In order to comply with the National Electric Code’s rules, you'll need to install a circuit breaker that's 125% larger than the intended load. In this case, you'll multiply 30 amps by 1.25 to find the necessary breaker size. Plugging that equation in for your 30-amp water heater will leave you with a 37.6-amp breaker. If your current water heater keeps tripping the breaker, it might be time to talk to a plumber or electrician about upgrading your water heater's setup.

It’s important to find the type of water heater that fits your needs and budget. Depending on the type of water heater, size, brand, and the type of energy you use to heat the water, costs range from a few hundred dollars to several thousand. Some of the most common types of water heaters include:

  • Electric: $600–3,500

  • Gas: $700–$2,700

  • Propane: $700–$2,500

  • High efficiency: $1,500–$3,000

  • Indirect: $1,200–$3,500

  • Hybrid heat pump: $1,200–$3,500

It is very difficult and dangerous to install your own water heater, so we strongly recommend against tackling this as a DIY project. Not only will you need to wire your water heater, but you’ll also need to connect plumbing to the intake and outlet. Sweating copper pipes and connecting wiring properly are skills most DIYers don’t have, and even if you do feel confident you can do it, working with water and electricity always leaves the potential for electrocution. Hiring a local water heater installer is well worth the investment.
