"We are so happy we had The Water Doctors install our Kinetco water softener system in our Shelton Washington home. We put off having a water treatment system when the first company wanted over $8000 for a electric system. The Kinetco system is much less expensive and uses clean water to flush. We have noticed the significant difference already. Shane and one other installer arrived on time and took just about 3 1/2 hours to install with water being secured for only a few minutes. Shane did an awesome job explaining the system and how to take care of it. When all was done there was no mess and fresh clean water in our home."

"We recently had our hot water heater replaced by Colin at Independent Plumbing, and I can’t say enough good things about the experience. Colin was incredibly professional, responsive, knowledgeable, and easy to work with from start to finish. He communicated clearly, showed up when promised, and completed the work efficiently and with great attention to detail. It’s hard to find someone who takes this much pride in their work and truly cares about customer service. The entire process was smooth and stress-free, and the quality of the installation was excellent. I would highly recommend Colin and Independent Plumbing to anyone looking for honest, dependable, and top-notch plumbing service!"

"Used HomeAdvisor for first time and found Juhola Inc listed. Water was out on Saturday night so called Mike (owner)Monday am. Mike was here that afternoon and Found the bad wiring on the pvc pipe down to the well pump. Pulled the pump and repaired the wiring and added a buffer so that wouldn't happen again as well as a new control box. I rarely leave any review but wanted to comment on Mike as others had. Mike was very impressive in his fair pricing, Service calls alone in area are $133-$145. I felt the repair pricing was more than fair. I highly recommend checking with Juhola Inc / Mike before you call others if you're in his service area. Outstanding service, quality work and a great guy besides. Give Mike a try, I'm sure you'll agree like I did, these 5.0 reviews are solid and worthy of Mikes business. 1st time I've used Mike, but now will only use Mike for any well issues in the future if needed."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

Drinking hard water is not known to have any negative health impacts. Using hard water can lead to dry skin and hair, and the minerals in hard water can build up in pipes, faucets, and appliances. Hard water is more of a threat to your plumbing than it is to your health.

Because it’s been through the water cycle, evaporating and becoming slightly acidic thanks to dissolved carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, rainwater tends to be naturally soft compared to groundwater, which has just been in contact with limestone. However, the natural hardness level of water always depends on where you are and other factors.

No, hard water isn’t dangerous. The added calcium in hard water can contribute to good bone health. However, it can also cause dry skin and hair. If you have dry skin or hair, consider using a water-softening system to help minimize the minerals in your water. Plus, these systems can also add some sodium to your diet.

Yes, you can have both a water softener and a water filter. In fact, some manufacturers sell dual water softening and filtration systems that treat hard water and provide clean drinking water. If you’re unsure about what you need or want to discuss your options, reach out to a local water softener installation company.

Replacing a water softener costs $200 to $6,000, depending on the capacity of the water softener, the type of water softener, and the amount of people living in your home. An ion exchange water softener is the most common type and costs $500 to $3,000. Water distillers, which cost $1,200 to $4,000, and dual-tank models, which cost $1,000 to $5,000, are definitely pricey, but they offer more filtration or capacity, respectively.
