His lead, Dan was particularly great, taking the extra time to understand components we picked that were new to him. James always had a positive attitude, showed up when he indicated and got things done. Low dust, protection for floors and respect for the rest of the house while the construction was going on. James also provided the best tile guy, Eugene, that did a fantastic job with natural stone and the complicated very fragile mosaic. We would definitely use Cox Custom Remodeling again. It is much more cost-effective to purchase semi-custom and stock cabinets than to build custom cabinets. You’ll pay between $500 and $1,200 per linear foot for custom cabinets, $100 to $650 per linear foot for semi-custom, and $100 to $300 per linear foot for stock cabinets. However, stock cabinets don’t allow you to customize cabinetry for an odd-shaped room or one with high ceilings.

It’s not usually a problem, although you may want to check the specifics of your cabinets first. A wall of kitchen cabinets can support about 600 pounds, including what’s inside and anything resting on top. Keep that limit in mind when adding DIY shelves or décor to the tops of cabinets. If you are installing a new row of full cabinets, they’ll typically have their own support mechanisms and the added weight will be minimal.

If your cabinets don’t reach the ceiling, you can extend them higher, adding visual interest, privacy, and storage space to your kitchen. Depending on the height of your ceiling, you may want to extend the structure of the cabinets and install longer doors to make each individual cabinet taller, or you could add additional cabinets above the existing ones. Either option is cheaper and easier than installing entirely new cabinets.
