Custom Furniture making/cabinet making, custom furniture repair and refinishing without upholstery. Built-ins Chests in the wall, closets, window seats, kitchen nooks, bookcases, libraries, bars and more. Fireplace Mantels, surrounds, hearths and wall to wall cabinetry hearth mantel solutions. I love fixing broken furniture and bringing old worn out finishes back with luster and shine.

"Decades ago, I bought a second-hand writing desk that had a water-damaged, solid-wood top. It had a couple of major splits and was cupped and discolored. It has some minor historical significance so I finally decided to get it repaired. Ed did a fantastic job--better than I had hoped. He was able to remove the splits and flatten the top while maintaining as much of the thickness of the top as possible. He masterfully refinished the top to match the color of the rest of the desk and gave it a wood-floor finish for durability. I got several bids on this project and Ed's was actually the lowest, so I couldn't be happier. Highly recommended."

Lim's Upholstery has been providing quality furniture restoration to our Portland area clients for over 27 years now and during that time we have established a reputation for excellent craftsmanship and on-time performance.

"We have a leather sofa that is at least 25 years old. They are in very good condition, except that the seat cushions got very soft after all of these years, so you sat really low in the sofa. The back cushions also got a little flat and the appearance of the sofa looked a little lumpy and not very neat. We took the cushions in to see what it would cost to replace the foam and fillings in the cushions. They gave us good advice and we thought the price was very reasonable (although we did not shop around for other estimates). The Lim's were also very friendly and easy to work with. Given the price of good furniture these days, we thought it was well worth the investment to replace the foam inside the cushions. It took about a week for them to complete the job. The result was that our sofa looks and feels like it is almost new again. The seating was nice and firm and very comfortable to sit in. The new foam and fillings inside the cushions also made the cushions very smooth on the outside as the new foam and fillings got out some of the wrinkles in the leather from the old cushions becoming so soft. We were so impressed with Lim's work that we brought in the cushions from our loveseat for them to work on. It turned out great as well. We now have a sofa and loveseat that looks good and comfortable again to sit in. I would recommend this place if you ever need to replace the foam and fillings inside your sofa/loveseat cushions. It was very enjoyable to work with them and the turnaround time was excellent."

1985 years of experience

Cabinets have that worn or outdated look? Cabinet Cures has the answer to update your kitchen into a incredible makeover without the cost or inconvenience of a total kitchen remodel, yet with quality that comes from over three decades of woodworking and cabinet refinishing experience. Cabinet Cures brings more than three decades of professional experience in custom cabinet refacing and refinishing, a state-of-the-art process, and exceptional customer service to every project. We pride ourselves on providing our customers with a beautiful, custom cabinet makeover and cabinet refacing that complements their home and budget. Serving the Portland/Vancouver area since 1985, Cabinet Cures of Portland services many cities throughout the metro area, including but not limited to: Portland Metro, Vancouver, Lake Oswego, West Linn, Tualatin, Sherwood, Beaverton, Hillsboro, Tigard, Bull Mountain, Murray Hill, Forest Heights, Camas, and Clackamas.

"I would not hire them again. The cabinet installers and guys who did the refacing overall were good, but working with Julia when a problem occurred was a disaster. The quartz countertop we had installed by their sub-contractor cracked within a year of use. We contacted Julia and she did nothing but string us along and lie to us for more than two years, saying "she was working on a solution." After going back and forth for years, she finally came back and said she wasn't going to do anything to help fix the issue after all, even admitting it was either an installation or product problem. During that time we were passed back and forth between Julia, the countertop installer and the quartz manufacturer. No one was willing to accept responsibility for something that was not our fault. After more than three years and a lot of stress later, we still have an ugly 12" long crack in our quartz countertop that we paid good money for and trusted that Cabinet Cures would make right. Please don't use this company, they don't stand behind their word."

They were courteous, responsive, prompt, hardworking, creative, and cost appropriate. They did my bathroom in 7 1/2 days. I truly enjoyed working with them. The bathroom is gorgeous and they are really nice people."

Applying a topcoat sealer is not required, but it will keep the stain from fading over time. This is particularly important if the stain imparts a color or varnish. If you’re staining exterior wood, you should apply a sealant or finish to prevent weather-related issues down the line. Also, stained wood that lacks a seal won’t look as clean and fresh. A clear topcoat will give it the professional result you want.

Strat decluttering for the holidays by removing trash and organizing items into different piles that you’ll keep, donate and toss out. Whatever you intend to keep, find a specific place for it, and if you buy something, get rid of an item that’s taking up space. Start small, go room-by-room, and don’t try to declutter all at once—doing so can get overwhelming.

You can revamp your laminate countertops effortlessly with the magic of paint, the DIYer's ally. Many tutorials and DIY kits are available to help you achieve the look of natural stone, including marble. So why not unleash your creativity and transform your countertops into stunning pieces that will leave everyone in awe of your artistic prowess?

Restoring furniture generally takes less time because the fixes involved are mostly surface-level cosmetic repairs. In most cases, a project like this will be completed in one to two days at most. By contrast, refinishing can take anywhere from several days to a couple of weeks because it requires sanding and treating damaged wood, adding a new stain, finish, or layer of paint, and drying time.

Depending on the piece, there are times when you can paint over painted furniture. Start by applying a high-adhesion primer so that the new topcoat will stick. However, if the paint is peeling or chipping, it’s best to sand it down, use a paint stripper, or try a deglosser to ensure your new paint will adhere.
