We really enjoyed working with Paul on our project. He was very helpful during the initial estimate and provided images to help us visualize the design of our new master bathroom vanity. He was communicative about the expected timelines and gave us guidance to our questions as we needed. The installation process was very smooth and the quality of both our refaced vanity and newly constructed vanity are great. We would certainly work with Paul again on future projects.
Paul came to the site, considered what we wanted, carefully measured, and then checked and discussed all the details with us. A few weeks later, he delivered and installed the new bookcase, doing finish cuts onsite to connect the old and new bookcases. Paul had warned us of the difficulty in exactly matching the stain on the old bookcase but he spent extra days in his shop (and at the paint store) getting the new stain to match. The new section of our bookcase matches the original and doesn't look like it was added later! Because of Paul's attention to details there were no complications, and everything fit together and around the obstacles in our floor plan. The bookcase looks better than we thought possible and we would definitely hire Paul for any future woodworking projects. He combines experience and skill, while still being enviably energetic.
The process was as smooth as you could ask for with contracted work.
He was professional, great to work with, easy to explain our ideas to and added to the creative process. The outcome was better than we could ask for.
All in all, we'd work with him again and again for any custom woodworking task that we can come up with.
I guess that is pretty much all I can say.
We wanted to have additional storage in our garage and looked for options online and on magazines. We found a model we liked on the Handy Man magazine. Paul was not only able to reproduce the same storage closet but also suggested modifications to it which added shoe storage capacity as well. He also suggested supporting legs to make it more sturdy and added molding to give it a better finish look.
We were very happy with the end result. Work is clean and professional. This is the second time we have work with him and are happy to say that his professionalism is outstanding. There is a lot of care and attention to detail.
If we ever have more need of custom carpentry we would definitely work with Paul again.
Thanks!
and was 1/4inch too small in width, for the size of refrigerators
today. I thought the wall that you could see as you walk into the
kitchen, from the hall, would have to be cut off at the bottom of the
cabinet over the refrigerator, and this would give me open space.
However, I was just sick about it, because it would be ugly seeing the
side of (and behind) the refrigerator. Paul came by to see the job, and
within a minute, he suggested cutting off the wall on the other side of
the refrigerator, which was fastened to a regular height cabinet, a
shelf for the microwave, and an overhead cabinet. It would free up 1/2
inch of space, and a new refrigerator would fit fine. It seemed so much
more complicated, it made me a little nervous, but I agreed. He went
and got his tools, and within 30 minutes, it was all done, and the old
refrig was back in place. The removed cabinet was not even missed, and
everything looked great. This is why you hire an expert, and not just a
guy to cut down a wall! I am so thrilled with the end result. I would
highly recommend Paul, for his creativity, and for the quality of his work.
He charged a set price for the rollouts he built, and did everything else on a time&materials basis. The hoursly rate was reasonable, and he worked efficiently while on the clock. I will definitely call him first when I need cabinetry work.
I initially contacted several companies for this particular project, one was way out of range for price and another didn't understand what i wanted completed. Paul came into my home and understood immediately what i wanted and gave suggestions that worked very well.
The work was completed in a reasonable time frame, Paul worked around my schedule and always showed up when he said he would and always right on time.
The cabinets are gorgeous and exactly the style I was looking for. The fit and finish is impeccable with noticeable attention to detail, such as lining up several datum lines I required to be nearly perfect.
I would not hesitate to work with Paul in the future, in fact, next year when I go to replace my kitchen I absolutely plan to talk with him about the project.
As an additional note this is not the only work we've had Paul do for us. Whenever we need anything custom built we know Paul is the go to guy.
The first job he did for us (in 2008) involved remodeling a coffee house bar and creating custom cabinets to match the cabinets that were already in the place from 15 years prior. Paul did an excellent job of this for us and also found matching materials so we could replace counter tops and they would still match other items we were not replacing or refinishing. We were on a tight budget and Paul helped create reasonable solutions within our budget.
Another job involved a custom double workstation office desk in the cafe kitchen office section (2011). Still being used in the coffee house kitchen.
The latest project involves a custom desk for my home office which we have received a bid for and intend to place the order soon (more reviews to follow when this one is done. The cool thing about this estimate is that it came with detailed drawings and a picture that simulates how it will look in the room where it will be installed.
When we get ready to remodel our home kitchen and bathrooms Paul will be our first call.....
A week later he returned for a fitting of the new mantle. Before bringing the piece inside he placed drop cloths over our carpeting. This attention to neatness prevailed throughout our time working with Paul.
He helped us choose the appropriate stain at the time of the fitting and returned several days later with our beautifully finished new mantle. The craftsmanship is superb! After 30 years of experience he has honed his skills to perfection.
We have already recommended Paul to our son's business, and hope to find more things he can build for us.
His prices were very reasonable and it allowed us to get a kitchen that looks like we spent $40,000 on Cherry cabinets for a cost of only about $9500.
We could not be happier customers and I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs cabinet work new or refinished. I now understand completely why the references of his that I called were thrilled with his work.
My parents are now using him to redo their 40 year old kitchen.
