Ryan was awesome to work with. Punctual--called each day before he came. Not only did he come in exactly as quoted--he deducted for two chairs because they didn't take him as long as he thought. He was methodical and meticulous. I would (will) definitely use him again!

Wow. Great!. Ryan asked a lot of questions before he came out so that we both had clear expectations. He quoted me what the cost for each item was. He did a beautiful job of fixing a large chip in the door of the bookshelf and and replacing piece that had come off of the crown. You would never know either of these had been damaged. He also repaired loose boards on the drawer of the base and put in missing boards to stabilize the crown. In addition he worked with me to discuss options for refinishing the wood on 2 chairs before I have them reupholstered. He gave three several options and prices and recommended the least expensive, because it provided the best color match with out spending a huge amount of money. (He explained that mahogany shows different colors depending on the direction from which you look at it). What can I say except that I am not sure that he charges enough given the amount of time it took him and how painless it was for us to have him come and work at our house.

I am a repeat customer of Ryan’s. Several years ago I had a set of dining room chairs which had become wobbly and unstable. I asked Ryan to look at them and he did, saying that he could fix the problem. The result was that when he finished they were as good as when I bought them 35 years before. The price was reasonable and the service was excellent. This week I asked Ryan to look at my 38-year-old Windsor-style kitchen chairs which had also become wobbly and unstable. Ryan listened patiently to my concerns and answered my questions about the repairs, then explained how he would go about fixing them. The result was the same as before, namely, they are as stable as the day I bought them. Again, the price was reasonable and the service was excellent. Ryan is a master craftsman and is very easy to work with. Like the good doctors of yore, he makes house calls. It doesn’t get any better than that. I highly recommend Ryan for any of your furniture repair needs.

Of the three contractors recommended by Angie’s List, Ryan Poulton was the only contractor to contact me. He did so within 24 hours of my request, and was able to give us a quote based on photos sent to him. He was able to come in and do the work within two days. The job appeared to be more time consuming than he had anticipated, but he did not complain or ask for a change in price. The work was done very professionally. The repaired areas were blended very well with the furiniture, so much so it’s hard to tell the difference. Overall very satisfied with the response, professionalism and quality of the work. Will use this contractor again.

I bought an old pub table on Craigslist that was wobbly and had a few scratches. Ryan put in some supports to make it sturdy. He also sanded it and put the first couple coats on to refinish it. I appreciated that he pointed out I didn't actually need some of the repairs I requested. And he showed me how to put on the finishing coats of lacquer to save me some money. The table came out beautifully.

He did excellent work. He gave me a bid and told me how long it would take. He picked up the table from my house, finished it on time, and delivered it back home. He was polite and efficient. My table is now beautiful!

Hello David Here's the situation. I used to do free estimates for insurance claims, but in most cases the people simply used my estimate to get cash from their insurance companies. They never intended to have me do the repairs. My time was completely wasted. Of course, they all claimed beforehand that that was not their intention. Consequently, if you would like an estimate for an insurance claim, I will charge a fee of $80, payable upon my visit to inspect the damage. Following my visit, I will email you an estimate on my letterhead. HOWEVER, I will reimburse to you this fee of $80 if/when I am engaged to perform the repairs. Thanks for the inquiry, and let me know if you would like to proceed with an estimate. "102 positive reviews, and then this? This customer requested a free estimate on freight damage, citing my advertising of free estimates. However, he was NOT requesting an estimate in good faith or in the spirit of competition. He was requesting it to collect money from his insurance company, with no intention of having the furniture repaired. He wished for me to visit his home, inspect the furniture, and write up a written estimate on his letterhead. For free. This was not an estimate, it was a service, for which I told him I would charge a fee. But, on the off chance that he intended to ultimately have me perform the repairs, I told him that I would reimburse the fee at that time. So the estimate WOULD in fact be free if he truly intended to have the repairs done. This protected me and it protected him, if he was legitimate. But he wasn't legitimate. If he actually intended to get the work done he would have accepted my terms because he would have had the fee reimbursed to him. This is all in my email to him which he reproduced in his review. (See above.) So, he was angry that he got caught in his game. And for this I got an "F" posted on Angie's List. Frustrating."

"After more than 90 straight A reviews, I was a bit perplexed by this customer's straight B review. Then I realized she had given me a B on punctuality. She brought her chair to my shop, and picked it up--I never even had an appointment to visit her. So "punctuality" could not have been an issue. Evidently, as a matter of principal, she does not ever give A's, and simply awards B's to all categories without reading them. Also, just for the record, repairing the crack in her chair was $35, not $80. I also touched up various flaws for $45, thus a total bill of $80 (her B grade on price further suggests that her B's are simply automatic.) Unfortunate reasons to have a now-blemished record."

Ryan was very responsive.  He came to our home, evaluated what we wanted done vs. what he could provide.  His statements of expected results were on target.  His prices are reasonable, and he is a craftsman.  He takes time to explain his processes, and his work is meticulous.  You will not be disappointed in the quality of his work.

Very well, Ryan was able to estimate the effort over the phone before even seeing the project. He arrived on schedule, and very meticulously restored the surface of our dining table to very close to it's original state, this included matching a variety of different colors of stain that ran through the damaged area, he was even able to restore the surface to eliminate the pit that the acetone had caused.
I couldn't be more pleased, as the blemish has all but disappeared!
Ryan is something of an artist and a perfectionist with this kind of restorative work, would use him anytime for this kind of work.
Thanks!

"The charge of $800 need clarification. I typically charge far less than $800 to refinish a dining room table top. However, this case was exceptional in that it was a truly massive table, plus two leafs, and included pickup and delivery as well."

At first, Ryan quoted a cost of $180/chair, but when he discovered that the upholstered seat and back could be removed, he reduced the price to $150 each. We very much appreciated his cost-consciousness. He did a wonderful job of matching the finish of each chair to the finish of the other furniture in the room where it would be placed, based on samples we provided. Both chairs look great, and it's impossible to tell that they haven't always been the colors they currently are. We're very happy with the result and recommend him highly!

Ryan is a true artist and craftsman.  He completely fixed a damaged area on my husbands office desk (about a 12" square) where the finish had been completely destroyed.  He not only matched the cherry-wood color perfectly, he was able to match the desk satin finish as well! Looking at the desk now, you would never know it ever had an issue...amazing!  Ryan also refinished the entire top of one of our nightstands.  Again, his work was nothing short of perfection.  It looks like a new piece of furniture! Now, I have him working on two damaged leather ottomans.  I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Ryan to anyone who either needs furniture repair or refinishing.  He's the best!

Ryan is a master of his craft. He is so attentive to every detail. He is dedicated to his artistry. He did work on sight and took some more to his shop. The three large pieces that went to his shop came back looking better than when I bought them. He gives a lot of explanations and advice on how to save money. He is an expert and a great person.

We were really pleased with Ryan's work. My husband had told me that one of the chairs could not be repaired, but Ryan did and it looks great - and now my husband admits he was wrong. :-)  Ryan is very professional, he is easy to work with, he appears to be a master craftsman, and his prices are reasonable. Would definately use him again.
