I started my search for a roofing contractor during the pandemic and was universally unimpressed with the bulk of contractors who came to estimate the job. That is, prior to meeting Gabe and the folks at Top Notch. Not only are the competitively priced, but they send an actual roofing expert out for estimating, as opposed to a salesman. I immediately felt was in good hands as he answered all my questions with authority and knowledge. On the job site, the crew was clean, polite, and professional. Work took 4 weeks and in the meantime, his guys were filling the dumpster with all their junk! The roof leaked through the winter, every time it would rain, our inside was being damaged! Now trying to recoup some money after I had to have another company repair and Sean has not returned any phone calls, emails, text! Even from the Better Business Bureau! Don’t bother hiring these guys!"

Local building codes dictate what’s appropriate for panel span, but these are normally based on expected snow loads. A metal roof will last for an average of around 50 years—usually between 40 and 75 years—which is about double the lifespan of an asphalt roof—between 15 and 30 years or 25 years on average. Installing a metal roof is usually more expensive than an asphalt roof, with an average cost of $11,400 compared to the $9,200 for an asphalt roof. However, given that a metal roof costs about 20% more and lasts twice as long, it’s typically well worth the investment and should save you money in the long run.
