They care. And it is obvious. I would recommend them 1000 times over. I started my search for a roofing contractor during the pandemic and was universally unimpressed with the bulk of contractors who came to estimate the job. That is, prior to meeting Gabe and the folks at Top Notch. Not only are the competitively priced, but they send an actual roofing expert out for estimating, as opposed to a salesman. I immediately felt was in good hands as he answered all my questions with authority and knowledge. On the job site, the crew was clean, polite, and professional. We did have a few hiccups along the way, which as anyone who has ever done renovation can tell you, is par for the course. These specific hiccups were discontinued products and shipping damages that were simply accidents. Just bad luck that had nothing to do with Top Notch. But it was their reaction to the situation that really won me over. Gabe, the foreman, and Jessica went above and beyond to come to my house on multiple weekends to install skylights because that is the kind of business they operate.

Dave and his team performed excellent work. We purchased the house knowing it needed a new roof, and, two years later, it became apparent that we shouldn't go through another winter without having it replaced. Dave had provided a quote in 2017 and provided us with a quick updated quote which was very fair. Within a few days of providing the down payment, work began and was completed within four days. Realize that in the winter, the work will take longer due to the cold and other weather disruptions. His crew was considerate and polite. The driveway was left clear in front of the garage so that we could still park inside. They were usually on site by 9 and finished mid-afternoon. The yard was left pretty clean, realizing that it is difficult to pick up all debris with snow and early darkness. When he came by to pick up the balance, I found Dave outside picking up debris. He said he'd be back in the spring to pick up any nails obscured by snow, which I appreciate as I didn't expect that. The roof looks great and I appreciate their integrity and politeness in addition to solid worksmanship. Thanks!

After tolerating several schedule changes (blame Tesla energy not TopNotch) the roof was replaced one week late (blame rain not TopNotch). A competent and professional company that can be relied upon even when everything doesn't go according to plan -- i.e. the real world.

Top Notch replaced my roof. David, the owner is very responsive. He was very prompt in getting back to me. He communicated to me in advance if there was any change in schedule and everything went as we discussed before. I planned to change my roof well in advance so I don't have to deal with any emergency. There was no additional expenditure other than what was provided in quote. He is also certified contractor for Owens Corning shingles which gave me additional peace of mind. Area was cleaned after the work.

We love our new roof. Everything went fairly smoothly. Lots of Rain and snow delayed roofing and extended the timing, but they came in between the snow storms and finished the job. We are now set for winter.

Let me tell you about my experience with Top Notch Roofing of Milton Vermont. In the beginning everything seemed fine. We signed the contract and were instructed that work would start on February 1st, with an expected three (3) day time frame for completion. However, this is where things started to go south. For starters, we were promised a complete crew; however, only two (2) individuals would show up at any given time. They would leave for extended periods of time and come back. Our ordeal with the re-shingling of our roof continues to this day. On various occasions when I returned home I was able to see damage to my property, such as gutters, decking, tar on the vinyl, broken vinyl, broken j-channel…etc. It was obvious that this crew was not taking good care of the most valuable thing (most expensive) thing most people will ever purchase, their home. This crew was not neat, for example, I found on multiple occasions cigarette butts throughout my property, coffee cups left in my gutters and food wrappers scattered about. After multiple unanswered calls and emails the project was complete; however, we were left with multiple damages. It was at this time, I realized that the crew did not take pride in their work and did not value their workmanship; rather, they were there to do the job and that was it. As a consumer I expected that the owner would have his crew treat my home as it was his; however, I was left with unanswered calls for service and emails that would go weeks without replies. I provided the owner a lengthy list of damages to my property after inspection, I am a meticulous homeowner and can tell you every scratch, scuff or damage and where it has come from. Recently, repairs have begun on my home but I am now at a standstill with the owner of the company, David. I am being instructed that he will not replace other issues identified as “his crew did not do them”. David has not taken the time out of his day to even inspect the damages or visit the property after the initial contract was signed. What does this say about the business when the owner will not take responsibility for the people that he employs? At this time, I am being told that his crew had already replaced items that they did not damage; yet again he has not been to the residence, and for some odd reason the damage was not present until after his crew was here. I have holes punctured through my gutters due to carelessness; however, I am now being told that the gutters were old and the damage was done from snow and ice. It is odd that it appears that a beaver was chewing on the inside of the gutters and you can see fork marks from when the shingles were removed. But that is not here or there. Why am I writing this review? I usually do not write reviews in the negative but the way this issue has carried on for several months with no real conclusion is worrisome. Would I recommend Top Notch Roofing to anyone else looking for a roofer? I have to say no. From my experience with this company it appears to be that they are pushy to get paid but when care, integrity, accountability and customer service comes in they are subpar. I would be happy to speak with anyone considering employing this company regarding the service I received. In addition, if I had further space for this review I would like to attach four (4) months of emails in regards to a job that was quoted for three (3) days.

Excellent! Top Notch arrived early and completed the job in a timely manner. Great crew and picked up every day so I wasn't left with a mess during the job. Would highly recommend to anyone needing roof work done.

I am very pleased with the work Top Notch Roofing did with the installation of my new roof. David Smith, president of the company, answered all my questions and concerns in a timely manner. However all correspondence was done by phone or e-mail. I would have actually liked to have met him personally. I give top marks to the work crew that showed up. They were professional and courteous. The crew showed up on time and got the job done in the time specified. They kept the work area very clean and picked up everything at the end of each work day. They also took precautions to protect plants around the house. The finished roof looks great and I expect to not have any problems. Also, Top Notch Roofing gives a 5 year workmanship warranty. After getting several estimates, Top Notch Roofing is very competitive on price. I researched reviews and talked with a neighbor who used Top Notch Roofing and decided to go with this company. I'm glad I did. I would definitely recommend Top Notch Roofing.

The shingles on my old roof were starting to deteriorate and every time is got windy I would find bits and pieces all over my yard.  The foor was the original one and was 24 years old.  In addition to the roof, the fascia trim board were getting in rough shape.  Family members had previously used Top Notch Roofing so I was familiar with the company and quality of work.  New seamless gutters were also installed by a sub-contractor Bronson Johnson.
The work started a day late, no fault of Top Notch Roofing.  The previous job completion was delayed due weather/rain.  The work crew was great.  Stripping shingles off a roof is a messy job but they took great care.  My hot tub was covered with sheets of plywood and tarps to prevent damage.  Plywood sheets where also placed in front of my slider and large double hung window to prevent damage.  Large tarps were laid out in the yard to catch the debris.  All shrubs where fully covers to prevent damage as well.  All debris was full cleaned up at the end of the day.  A magnetic nail catcher was used as well to insure no unexpected flat tires.  In addition all of the old fascia boards were remove and replaced with PCV boards.  The fascia board replacement added both time and expense to the project but now I have a roof that should be maintenance free for many years to come.  I can't say enough about the quality of work and how conscientious they were.  It was great to see a crew that did such a great job.
I was given an estimate of 6 working days to completion.  This was accurate and the work was completed on time.  My roof is a complex design with a dormer and several peaks and valleys.   Within a days of the work being completed there was another strong spring storm.  It was great to see the roof properly shedding water and not see any pieces of shingles flying around my yard.  They also do siding and decks.  The next time I have a similar project Top Notch Roofing will be the first company I call.

Dave and his crew were responsive, timely, efficient and did a great job as promised. Price was very reasonable. I regret not knowing about them when I redid my roof a few years ago. Would definitely consider them for any roofing work.

Top Notch roofing did an excellent job in replacing my existing roof on my home in South Burlington.  Our home has a complicated roof with several different pitches and roof lines.  They had the least expensive estimate, started and finished on time, were punctual and professional and at the end we have a beautiful new roof.   They cleaned up the old roofing debris every day.  I would recommend Top Notch roofing for any of your roofing needs.  Thanks so much David and Top Notch Roofing!!!  Bruce
