I was very generous with my bartering and gifting because I was moving. Not withstanding this generosity, the foreman and his wife, Jack's daughter, using keys I provided to do repairs, took over my house without my permission. They moved into my house! To be totally fair, we talked about renting it to them but I did not initially sign any lease and they made none of the normal deposits or rental payment. I had other tenants lined up but they blocked my use of the property. In order to get legal traction I was eventually (months later) forced to sign a lease but none of the lease terms were met. I am just now getting the property back through the courts. There is substantial damage to the home and I am finally able to inspect the quality of work. I don't honestly know how Angie's list allows them to use their service.
Broken windows, broken in doors, holes in the walls, missing appliances, missing tools, (they even took a 4x8 peg board off the wall), un-allowed pets with damages, and dumpster loads of garbage. all because Affordable Roofing was given access to the property to perform specific tasks, that were poorly or never performed. I would have expected my keys and access to my property to be managed professionally. Be careful.
I listed 14K as the cost of the original roof work, but this does not include the bartering, nor the unpaid rents, nor the damages which are mounting...as I am still trying to assess the total impact of this outrageous behavior. I am considering civil and criminal legal process against Affordable Roofing and it's employees.

The job was a day and half. They cleaned up carefully making sure all nails and old shingles were picked up and removed. Everyone was polite and professional.
So, now that the roof is complete, it looks beautiful! The craftsmanship and color of the shingles looks great and we are very excited about it. The chimney also is in better condition with the re-pointing and new flashing around the base. Our new gutters will be attached on Saturday (a week ahead of anticipation too), and Jack highly recommended the person who will be doing this job.
Jack and Affordable Roofing guarantees their craftsmanship for 10 years, and the shingles for at least 15 years. I am very pleased with the work provided and the knowledge that Jack has been doing this for almost 30 years. I most certainly will contact Affordable Roofing in the future for any other renovation I might need on my house (they do more than just roofs!)
My sister also used this contractor a few years ago and was, like us, very pleased with the service.
I will definitely refer friends and family to this company.
Overall impressions / thoughts:
We probably should have removed our cars from the garage during the original roof tear-down, due to the debris and nails, but that was our fault.
Each day, the contractors did a good attempt to remove the nails around the house, but I found over a dozen (especially in the garage) so check for them yourselves.
The owner seems to be a genuinely good person who wants his company to do great work, but he may seem a little flaky in terms of getting back to you after you call.
OVERALL, we are very happy with the work that he and his workers did for us. I would recommend them to others.
