Consumer Construction is a funny company. They do excellent work, but their scheduling, callback and calendar is variable, perhaps due to construction delays or other booking preferences they control. I have had 3 large roofing projects done by them, they are expensive and I probably should have gotten more quotes from other companies. My last project replaced a large slate roof over two separate seasons (one side, then the other) and the total came to about $40K. Two skylights were added late in the contract, and I wound up doing a good amount work myself (interior finish). An unused chimney was contracted to be topped off in metal, but they forgot and I did not know this until a huge rainstorm brought water down the chimney, doing about $700 in interior wall damage, which they disavowed any responsibility for, nor fixed. They did later add the metal cap, begrudgingly. The slate job required adding 6 rows of red slate in the middle of a gray field pattern to match the previous design. Oddly, they brought, trimmed and stacked all the reds on the roof, only installed two rows, then packed them all out, probably to another job.
I actually do recommend Consumer Construction to anyone who knows how to write a dense, thorough contract, then get the final job inspected and make your last payment contingent on getting everything you ordered, when you expected it to be done. Assigning penalties to dates missed would be wise with this company, but they probably would not sign a contract with these stipulations against them. Then again, if you don't have a tight time schedule, this company would be a reasonable recommendation.

They broke out a price and we thought it was fair and we did not find anybody who had even close to their expertise. They are absolutely topnotch. They clean up everyday after they leave. I did complain because they left a lot of old lumber in a place that was inconvenient to us and it took a couple of days to get rid of it but they finally did. They put a dumpster there and everyday they are careful to make everything neat around the yard. They do not leave trash. They are always polite and nice. They are just a joy to have around. I talked to the foreman about that. He said that is one of the things he is a stickler about, that they get along well together and that they respect the people who own the house. He said he does not want people to be locking their doors when these guys come around to work. They have an A plus rating from the Business Bureau and I also checked with the city building office and I found out that they are in compliance with them.
