As a result of this experience, we asked Mark to estimate the renovation of two bedrooms. (It should be noted that the house was built in 1942, so they were dealing with plaster walls & ceilings). Mark and his crew smoothed walls/filled cracks/holes (having to remove some of the warped areas and replace); covered "popcorn" ceilings with sheet-rock; installed/relocated new light fixtures; relocated a radiator in one room; built out and added lighting to an existing closet/added doors; added electrical sockets; painted and added crown molding. This project also involved the replacement, sanding and finishing of part of one of the hardwood floors. We decided we would also have our hallway and stairs sanded and refinished as well.
Mark and crew also replaced our storm door, and before doing so, he told me that the door I had chosen was not a quality one upon inspection at Home Depot. Mark suggested using the same door he had installed in his home instead, but upon showing it to me, if I preferred the one I had chosen, he would install that door. The door Mark chose was solid and of excellent quality and we love it!
Needless to say, my daughters are ecstatic with their "new" rooms!! Mark and his crew were awesome about accommodating our needs while keeping the project on time. Every afternoon when they were done, everything was left in order and vacuumed, etc., for our use. Any sawing of wood that was done outside was cleaned up completely each day. Mark was great about making suggestions such as crown molding to hide the uneven way the plaster walls meet the ceiling; and building out my daughter's existing closet a few feet to make it functional AND not compromise the size of the room. He suggested moving the radiator down slightly to accommodate the new closet dimensions and address the problem with the adjusting knob. (The adjusting knob of the radiator had been accidentally "walled in" within the original closet by a previous contractor!)
Overall, Mark was prompt, professional, courteous, innovative and budget-conscious! It is refreshing to have someone who returns your calls/emails/texts promptly and does what he says he will do! There is no doubt that we will be using Tongue & Groove Carpentry for future projects!!
