"Do yourself a big favor and don't hire this firm! Originally, Armand Morel was hired for a big job, over $200,000, but he was fired only part way into demolition. Armand misrepresented the way he would work and was rude to me, and then, after I felt compelled to fire him, he attempted to overcharge me by over $20,600 for the partial demolition he had accomplished to that point. I had to hire a lawyer who advised me to negotiate a settlement, which involved compromises I found difficult to make. My lawyer and I settled for $15,850 on 12/6/23. Armand still got away with thousands more than he should have been paid--plus I had to then pay a legal bill of roughly $2500. Therefore, not including my time, energy, delayed job, and stress, I was out roughly $7250."

It depends on your ceiling height. Wall cabinets are typically mounted 54 inches from the floor. So, if you have eight-foot ceilings, you’ll need 42-inch-high wall cabinets to fill the gap. And you’ll need 54-inch cabinets if you have nine-foot ceilings. But standard-sized cabinets don’t come in 54 inches, so you'll need to stack various sizes together. And, if you have ceilings higher than nine feet, it’s a good idea to have custom stacked cabinets made to fill your space.

Glass is typically held in a cabinet door by a silicone sealant, which will keep it tightly in place. You can substitute silicone sealant for rubber pieces, known as Hafele stops, but this option will place more space between the cabinet materials and the glass. Consult a cabinet maker or repair professional for more insight on the best tools and materials to use.

To remove kitchen cabinets, you’ll need a drill, putty knife, utility knife, hammer, and pry bar. A saw may also be necessary to cut materials into smaller pieces. Wear work gloves and safety glasses for protection, and have a helper handy to support heavy cabinets as you remove them.

You can remove stripped screws with some elbow grease and an extractor kit for severe cases. Don’t forget to purchase replacement screws or hardware. In rare cases, cabinet handles may be glued on, in which case you can use a box cutter or similar knife and a pair of pliers to carefully remove the handle without damaging the cabinet. You may want to replace those handles entirely rather than try gluing them on again.

If dresser drawers are damp or dirty, they could be transferring odors to your clothes. Make sure to only store clean, dry clothes in dresser drawers. Plan to thoroughly clean out the drawer interiors at least two times per year.
