"We have a 11 year old shower installation with two shower heads and four personal jets - any of these can be independently regulated with another mixing valve for water temp. The mixing valve would only give extreme hot water and one shower head did not work. I tried four other plumbers and none would even attempt the fix; neither Lowes nor Home Depot would either. Finally called Boswell - as the unit's foreign made parts were difficult to find and initially wrong parts were sent. After three visits and multiple parts Boswell repaired it. They stuck with it, refused to give up and finally did fix it vs. the other plumbers who would not even try. Only other alternative was complete replacement of the installation which would have required ripping out the tile on two walls and a completely new hardware! I did not even price that out."

There are many recognizable symptoms of AC compressor failure. The decision to put your AC unit on the roof or ground depends on the climate in your area, the roof shape, accessibility, and budget. If you live in a warm climate or don’t have existing ductwork, it’s likely best to stick to a traditional AC unit that sits on the ground. However, if you lack yard space, live in a mild climate, and have easy access to the roof, your home may benefit from a rooftop AC unit. 

Most HVAC companies recommend against setting your AC below 70 as it could freeze up the system and cause more problems. Regardless of how hot it is outside, there is generally a 20 degree difference between the outside and inside temperatures, so even if it’s 100 degrees outside, your AC will likely not be able to cool your home to 70 degrees.

You should service your AC at least once per year, in the spring, and twice per year if your unit is 10 years or older. As your unit ages, more maintenance can catch problems early and help the system reach its full lifespan potential, usually 15 years.

Get on your HVAC technician’s schedule in early spring so your unit is ready to go for the season. If you’re doing two inspections per year, aim for one in the spring and one in the fall. You should also service your furnace once per year in the fall.
